Sphero Ollie: App-Enabled Robot

Great fun to be had with this. Simply download the app and away you go!One problem was that it does not work with Windows phones as the app isn't available.Design is very good and it survives a lot of big impacts and hard falls. There is no worry when taking the Ollie outdoors either.Great toy for kids and adults. Just allow enough time for practice!

Great little toy that gives my 11 year old son hours of enjoyment. He takes it out to parks and it always gets attention from adults, kids and dogs. He rates Ollie as 'cool' and is saving for other colour tyres. The only disadvantage are is that the when you give Ollie instructions, they are not instantaneous, so you cannot do emergency brakes/stops. Also, it is hard to be very accurate with the pathways. Ollie is great on rough terrain but does not work on grass. Overall we would recommend

Bought for my son through Amazon warehouse. The product feels sturdy and well made, the controller app was easy to find on Google Play store and once installed a quick charge of the Ollie unit and it was up and running. The Ollie itself is louder when running than I would have thought, and takes some getting used to the interface to allow you to play. A few minute of orientation though and you soon get the hang of which is forward and back. All being well he will enjoy it for Christmas

Saw these and thought they looked good, they were fun to use for a while but became a fad quite quickly. Not worth the cost, if you're intrested in a remote control car/toy i would advise choosing a different product.

Simply put, bought for 7 year old daughter as she is into gadgets for part of her Christmas, and she loves it, plays with this more than any other present, and to be honest, I've had my fair share of playing with it, initially takes a little learning curve to master the controls from the iPhone, but can this thing move!!!!! The good points about this item is, its long battery life, she has been playing with it in the hall now on and off for over an hour and its still going strong, strong and durable so wont break easily like most electronic toys, can easily be taken outside on road surfaces etc, colour changing light effects, she loves that bit, and because I got this for nearly half the price of the other colours being sold on Amazon.

Got this on a lightning deal for a steal. It was a bit hard assembling the unit. We had to try and figure out the right way to connect the outer hubs and wheels. Took a bit of pulling and pushing but eventually managed. Charge it up via the supplied cable. Download the Ollie app and away you go. Flashing lights and sounds! It's very entertaining and my small nephews were amazed by it. Although I had to move the 2 year old who kept trying to grab it as it was spinning around the room lol. You do need quite a large floor space to play with it properly. Might be better outside but haven't tried yet. Maybe in the warmer months! You can buy different wheels/hubs to change into for use on different terrains.

Given it a one star, very disappointed as the product will not work with any of the devices that we have which are Galaxy S2, S3 mini and Note3 10.1 tablet. Be very careful to ensure that your Android is 4.4.2+ and you have Bluetooth 4. I thought I had checked carefully enough, but I had not so it was very disappointing. The Sphero website could be much clearer that it is.I have changed this review from my original posting, hoping to find a solution but most likely is returning this item to Amazon. The S3 mini states it is Android 4.4.2 but still cannot download the app.

I love this thing! Sometimes I'll spend a while on it racing around the house, other times I just play for a few minutes to chase the cats (they're fat, they need the exercise!), it's so simple and easy to use that you don't have to spend hours learning it... but at the same time, you can perfect and hone your skills over time to get even more out of it.It's super-strong too, so definitely suitable for children who may not appreciate racing things straight into walls isn't a great idea. And with the padded wheels on, it'll protect anything it hits from too much damage.
