I'll be the first to tell you that, much to my chagrin, our sweet little 5-year-old daughter is shaping up to be quite the "diva." She's all about singing, dancing, and doing her best to be "cute," and while I don’t typically like to nurture the superficial side of her interests, when I saw an opportunity to review this salon set, I couldn’t help but want to indulge her a little.Now, I'm nowhere near the point of allowing makeup or perfumes or anything like that, so the first thing I’d say is that I’m very grateful the manufacturers of this set only included a couple of pretend versions of those items. I don’t need her obsessing over that stuff at this age. I don’t mind if she wants to do her or her dolls’ hair, though. After all, I still want her to have the ability to express her interests, and this set is perfect for that.All the tools are made of fairly solid-feeling plastic, with a working blow dryer and a curling iron that lights up red to indicate “heat.” There are more than enough items in here to satisfy the needs of a salon, I’d think, so I’m certain she’ll be over the moon when she sees everything it comes with. I think she’ll also appreciate that despite it all being plastic, it still looks like the real deal.My only gripe is very minor: I found it odd they included batteries for the curling iron but not the blow dryer. What do I know, though? At the end of the day, for its modest asking price, I feel it’s a solid buy. I recommend it.

Got this as a Christmas present for my 4-year-old because she has become really interested in beauty and playing hair salon, probably because of having older cousins. I was a little bit disappointed with it, but I guess it does match the price point. It is basically dollar store quality; the Scissors broke almost immediately. The items were smaller than I was expecting even for kid hands. The sounds are cute and the little fan in the dryer was a nice touch. She did have fun with it, but it was a little underwhelming. I wish it had just been a little more expensive for a little higher quality, because it was a good variety and she was really excited for it.

Liked:Kids liked the scissors because they feel like they are real, but the plastic scissors will not cut hair.They also enjoyed the curling iron lighting up red when the handle is squeezed to open the whole way.The hair dryer operates with a fan making it more realistic. They love wearing the tool bag apron and loading it up with their tools. The real water spray bottle was a hit and made playtime more fun for the kids and wetter for me. They enjoyed the working play lipstick and constantly twist it up and down. The rest of the makeup tools filled out the total arsenal needed for a salon day.Disliked:The realistic teeth on the thinning scissors actually bite and pull hair which makes pretend play painful.The blower is annoying when left on and out of sight which seems to be all the time with younger ones. Changing the blower attachments are also difficult for my 4yr old.The hair rollers are too difficult for her to use. An older child would probably be fine and it's just a small part of the set, so I am satisfied just tossing them aside.While the set is not super high quality, it is also not terribly cheap. It is a nice selection of tools to provide a little girl hours of fun and should last quite a while.

My cousin is in love with this mini salon kit. The item look so realistic. The scissors looked very real. The curling irons has a red light that makes it look like it’s hot. The makeup kits are so cute. It does take barriers which are included. Great value for fun.

I didn't know toys could look so cheaply made. You're not going to surprise anybody with your generosity by gifting this set.
