Superior Stand Alone Toilet Rail Grab Bar
I chose the Vaunn Medical Bathroom Adjustable Height Toilet Rail Grab Bar and Commode Safety Frame after researching the features, measurements and reviews. The deciding factors for my purchase were the 23" width between hand rails and the fact that the height of the hand rails was adjustable. The Vive Stand Alone Toilet Rail and the Drive Medical Handicap Grab Bar are similar in design, but both are only 21" between hand rails and the height of the hand rails on both are NOT adjustable, all three have a 300 lb weight limit for sturdiness. I decided the Vaunn Medical with 2" more width between the hand rails would give more room to turn and maneuver, also being able to adjust the hand rail height to fit were features worth paying more for. I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE!!! Very sturdy and very easy to assemble and easily moved for cleaning both the rails and around the toilet or moving in an out of the bathroom. (The one disclaimer is that the bottom foot rails do protude a ways, you have watch where you step)

Best solution for secure toilet use.
Great solution for post-surgery, or arthritic joints that make it difficult to accommodate a typical standard toilet. It is the only solution that doesn't require permanent installation. The price was very reasonable too, and I even purchased a second one for the home of a friend who has prayer groups, card playing groups, and bible studies at her home - with senior participants. I put it in her guest bathroom where all of the participants can enjoy it during their visits. I suffer from Spinal Lumbar Stenosis which makes it so difficult to negotiate a toilet. I am also a large person - so this item is so sturdy and well built that it can accommodate any size person without fear of collapse. Easy to clean too.

Safety For Those Who Need It, And Arm Rests For The Family
These toilet rails are working and we can’t really find anything wrong with them. We felt that freestanding rails are a good alternative when built-in grab bars aren’t possible. We looked at several models and decided that this style with the frame flat on the floor looked more stable than the standard four-footed models. It does tip forward a bit if you put your weight too far forward on the handles, but just put your hand back a bit and it’s fine. The instructions tell you as much. The rails were very easy to put together. It was assembled and around the toilet in minutes. It was suddenly a weird feeling to have arm rests on the toilet. Comfy, but weird. The toilet was now a chair! LOL! So there’s a bit of a perk for household members who don’t need to use the rails for lifting purposes, and they’ll find that the rails do not affect the normal functionality of the toilet. For those who need the handles to hold on to, it’s a game changer. We should have bought this simple gadget years ago.Just pay attention to the dimensions. The description says it’s 28” across. Add a smidge to that. We measured it at a bit more than 28” because of the wing nuts that you see on the side. The frame was 27” from corner to corner, plus about a half inch on each side for the nut (it’s hard to measure that nut exactly). So their 28” is fair. But measuring the floor space that it takes from the nut jammed up against the edge of the baseboard to the opposite side’s nut, it was a bit over 28”. So just check your clearance around your toilet. Honestly, we didn’t check. We just figured it would fit in our normal toilet space. It just barely fit because of where the wall is positioned on one side. Whew! If that baseboard was any wider, we may have had to send this back. But it’s in place, it’s functional, and the toilet is a bit safer.

Yes!!
This is an excellent piece of equipment. I needed help because our toilets are seriously below my knee. Until we put in better toilets, this will get me by. Super sturdy and well made.

Works With My Over The Toilet Shelving
There were so many different options for toilet grab bars that I either tried or checked out along with measurements that did not fit or work with my over the toilet shelving. I did not want to get rid of the shelves since my bathroom, and entire apartment for that matter, has so little storage space. Yet, I also needed grab bars that worked for me.The only option I had was a single grab bar that was already on the wall in my apartment to left myself up from the toilet with one arm and my cane with my other arm. Not a good idea. And because I need to use both arms to lift me up my search continued. One of the problems I found with other grab bars of this same type was the inability to adjust the height to work with my raised toilet seat. Problems, problems and all I wanted to do was be able to get on and off the toilet easily with the greatest comfort without assistance from my caregiver because, well, it's great to do this sort of thing by myself for as long as I can.And then eureka! I discovered this gem of a toilet grab bar. It sits directly in front of the toilet, offers me ease and stability while getting on and off the toilet, sits far enough in front of the over the toilet shelving so that wasn't an issue, AND it adjusts in height so I can have the grab bars in the correct position for me to ease myself on and off the toilet with no safety with comfort. There have been no issues with the bar tipping over either. I have been keeping my hands planted in the enter of the bar as recommended.I really love this toilet grab bar. Best thing I have come across in my search for the right grab bar and do not regret my decision to buy it.It also comes with a rack to hold magazines or a book. This company thought of everything!
