PETZL - I'd S, Self-Braking Descender, Yellow

I have all kinds of doodads for going up a tree but wanted something safe for coming down. I wanted something easy to attach to a rope, attach and let go with both hands so the ground doesn't break my fall, able to attach then take up the slack so I could remove my hand ascender and have a dead man switch in case as I was rappelling down and passed out or attacked by an owl so it would stop me unaided .This is it, kind of pricey but worth it.WARNING::::::: Be sure to match your rope size to the Petzl that you order. I only use 10.5mm so this it perfect for me

I use it as a progress capture/descending device climbing a 11.7mm rope, fits great. The anti-panic function is an excellent feature, I would not feel comfortable descending without it.Update after 1 year of use: Continues to work like new. No signs of wear

Awesome, best descender device around. Panic button stop you from making a mistake. Durable, dependable, can use on wet ropes accommodate 11 mm rope will not work with 12 or 13 mm ropes. You can control your descent dropping down to ledges or windows with accuracy as you gain more experience.
