Suitable subsititue for GT990 from 2014 14Kw model
It works. I have a 2014, 14Kw, model GT990. Note: nowhere other than the owners manual does GT990 show up, not on the generator case ID or the engine ID plate. The most difficult part of the install was working on the back/far side of the engine because in this model, the back case panel does not lift out and/or would not be easy at all to remove to get to the starter. I used a 5x7" mirror to assist in finding the bolt heads. There are only 2 holding this starter to the case and they are 1/2". So was the nut on the Bendix holding the electrical connectors, but on the new it was 9/16 for the connector nut. When you open the shipping box, you might think "this isn't going to work" because the armature diameter is larger than the OEM and the throwout gear is smaller in diameter than the OEM. Read some of the other reviews if you want all the technical info. Some guys measured everything before the install, and I just tried it based on their reviews. The engine turns over much faster and starts so much better than with the OEM, which BTW, must be mostly junk based on longevity and other blogs. The bendix on the OEM was getting bad and having trouble getting the throwout gear to engage. That was occurring after only what I'd estimate less than 300 starts based on weekly running/exercises. This replacement starter took me 45 minutes to replace, just because it's on the back of the engine and a little tricky to feel around for the correct bolt heads. A no brainer for what wound up being only $75 after tax. Hoping the longevity is much better than the OEM version but only time will tell. This was not a Prime item, but it actually arrived quickly - ordered 1 Sep and it arrived 7 Sep shipping from TX to OH. In the photos I attached, the OEM is the one with the slightly gold tint on the left and the black armature case; the new has a silver tint. Good luck!Edit: I included a photo of the ID plate on the OEM starter I removed, in case that helps you decide if this replacement starter will work in your application. Numbers on the GENERAC ID plate are: P10455515 and 0E9323.

Direct replacement for Generac gth760 12 kw generator
Replaced my failing starter in my Generac 12kw generator. Was blowing the fuse which can be caused by a poor battery but wasn’t just the battery. Starter solenoid was going bad. And the old one also didn’t sound great when starting. The solenoid would lockup not engage and blow the fuse. Sometimes the old starter would work but was not reliable. I cycled a few times and was able to get it working again. But that’s not reliable. So I decided to replace the starter. The old starter does not have a replaceable solenoid. This new starter is slightly bigger but fit perfectly into same spot. The hard part. You have to remove all the heat shields and remove the muffler then you can access the starter on the back of the motor. It’s difficult and tight. this new motor fit tight and perfect. The new starter fired right up and sounded better than the old one. Hopefully no more fuse blows.Took about 2 hours. New motor components look durable and good quality. Included a bench report of starter motor testing before leaving factory. A plus for quality control. Also included installation instructions.

Lasted about 8 months
I bought this thing on December 28th, 2023 and today (August 18th, 2024) I'm ordering a new one (except this time I'm getting an OEM part instead of a cheap Chinese knock-off. Don't waste your money.

Worked for Generac Guardian 004391 15KW Generator
Access to the starter at the rear of the generator was near impossible. So, I cut a square hole with an angle grinder through the back of the enclosure, then used a scrap piece of thin aluminum to seal everything back up.The four innermost screws hold back in place the cut piece with its attached sound insulation. I folded the top of the aluminum sheet over the top, to be under the lid, to help keep the rain out. I painter's caulked along the perimeter before screwing the sheet down.I may eventually paint it all, but the back is hidden and never sees sunlight. The good thing is, that if it ever fails again, it will be super easy to change.

The bendix gear is smaller on the new starter motor
When I got the new starter I was surprised that the Bendix gear was much smaller than the OEM part. I was initially disappointed and thought I would have to exchange the starter motor. Since I was already knee deep into the project I decided to give it a shot and much to my surprise it worked. AND, it works much better than the original. Turns the engine over much faster which saves the battery and starts the generator with ease. Very happy! The seller should have mentioned this in the description to save folks the hassle of finding out the hard way.

arrived quickly, well-packaged, works well!
used this product to replace GT990 engine in generac guardian standby residential generator and it fit perfectly. arrived quickly and in good condition. there was a scratch on the cardboard box around the starter, but the starter was also wrapped in bubble wrap and a few layers of cardboard so there were no issues with the product itself.
