This form of child abuse (and also spousal abuse), if not addressed by the ‘targeted’ parent quickly, often results in lifelong emotional and psychological harm to children. These negative effects are developmental and only become evident in young adulthood as they have relationship problems and often chose partners that exhibit the same ‘familiar’ abusive behaviors as their alienating parent.This book is written with easy to understand language, yet without missing any of the critical information needed for these complex, nuanced, difficult to treat dysfunctional family dynamics.There are many other good books to supplement the education needed. For parents, this includes the seminal book, ‘Divorce Poison’ by Dr. Richard Warshak.Often assistance of the family court is needed to protect your parenting time. Therefore, you and your attorney will benefit from, ‘Parental Aliention - Science and Law’ by Drs Bernet and Lorandos and/or ‘Parental Alienation, Presenting a Case’ by Ashish Joshi (an active attorney in Michigan, US).

This is an excellent book for anyone suffering from Parental alienation (PA) and not knowing what to do. The book offers an in-depth and easy to understand explanation of what PA is and is not, lays out a very good framework to organize your thoughts and gives ideas on how to address it both with your child as well as with the courts. I'm in the middle of a severe alienation with my son and this book has really helped put things in perspective for me.

Very well written. Detailed and well organized. An excellent resource for a clinician or a parent.

This book has a lot of good information - the sooner you read and understand it the better. It doesn’t mean you will be able to put all the suggestions into action or that your legal case will suddenly change, but your perspective will shift in a way that allows you to know what you can change and what needs to be surrendered. Living with PA is draining and horrible. It’s hard to have Hope that things will change and it’s hard to know how to talk about it with your friends, family and legal advisors but reading this book does help.

Very clear analysis of the issues involved which skilfully manages to avoid the usual polarisations. Very clearly written even though it has a therapeutic perspective. Full of good ideas for parents in how to deal with being on the receiving end of alienation behaviour including dealing with separation, conversations with children and court cases. Even helpful and non-judgemental insights for those who may be alienators or contributing to alienation. It makes it very easy to consider the whole issue of alienation from the perspective of the child in the middle & would be helpful to parents and professionals alike.

A great practical book to enable parents like myself understand not only what I'm going through but more importantly my children.

If your an alienated parent....THIS BOOK IS A MUST HAVE! Absolutely wonderful information lies within this book. It has so much powerful information on the cause, coping, and healing of being alienated. How to reconnect with your child after PA. Oh just trust me....this book is a GODSEND!!!!
