Q: Has anyone used this mix in a clay pot? I'm thinking of transferring my phal in a clay pot.

I strongly recommend against putting Phals in any clay pot, certainly unless the inside of the pot is well glazed. Phal roots, more than any other orchid's roots, grab anything they touch, and will adhere strongly in unglazed clay, so you cannot repot them, which they like you to do annually, without destroying a lot of the roots. I had more than 400 Phals at one time, a few years ago, and learned a lot in maintaining them.

Q: Is the mix ready to use or will I have to disinfect it fisrt?

It is ready to use out of the bag. My orchids looked so much better after the repot I did with this mix. Very fresh. Would recommend!

Q: Would this be good for monstera sp peru?

Sorry this took so long! I think this would be great for a Monstera, the thing is you need to add some soil... at least half and half... The Orchid mix has the sphagnum moss you need, lots of stuff for aeration, you just need to add the soil. I'm not sure if I'd do half and half or add 3/4 soil. I'm only imagining here, sometimes you need to get in there and feel it. Such a great idea though, wish I'd thought of it! Good luck! -S
