Why settle for polyester when you can have real silk? It just feels different on your skin, so luxurious. Watch out for dishonest sellers who use the word "silky" to describe polyester. Quality silk is superior to even the best quality polyester. If worried about washing this-just hand wash in your sink with gentle cleanser like Woolite, rinse and line dry. It will come out fine. The look is classic for a hair tie, or as a scarf with a boyfriend jacket. The length and width is just right. I love it!

I bought this to replace the sash/belt of a black silk kimono robe, and it's perfect for that purpose for me - I have about a 30" waist. I also own several pairs of these in different colors for light bondage use. They're really nice, soft, silky 100% silk satin fabric, and well made. I'm so glad SilRiver offers these!Edited to add: Since this sash 100% silk, you should wash it the same way you'd wash any washable silk fabric. The best way is to gently handwash in cold water with a silk-specific detergent - just swish it around, don't wring or twist to avoid putting tiny wrinkles in the fabric - and let it air dry, lying flat or hanging. This is something you can google, too. Silk fabric is made of silk protein fibers from silkworm cocoons, so it's similar in composition to wool and needs to be cared for differently from plant-based fabrics.

The worst part is that there was no tag with washing instructions. I first tried hand washing and hang drying, but that achieved a crackly mess. Putting in the dryer with other colors at normal heat ruined the fabric. Only by trial and error did I finally learn they can be washed with like colors, but have to be tumble dried on low. Would have liked to know that before.

So, this looks great for a few weeks or so, but after being worn twice a week as a femme-tie/pussy bow accessory it's started to wear down. But I guess that's normal. In the future, if I'm going to wear something every day I suppose I should make sure it's actually silk instead of threadbare Claire's quality shred ribbon. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted (however short that was).
