A 1/4 lb package of our Extract Grade Beans is approximately 40 beans. This value is based off of the size of the beans, meaning larger or thicker beans will likely be less than 40.

Q: Where do these beans come from?

The Seller states that the product (Tahitian vanilla beans) come from Papua New Guinea??? How are they "Tahitian"??

Q: What is the best way to store my vanilla beans?

The longevity of your gourmet beans is dependent on how they are stored. A gourmet vanilla bean will last six months to three years without losing potency in ideal conditions. Beans should be stored in an airtight, sealed container in a cool, dark area.

Q: How are these cured? What chemicals are used?

No chemicals are every used on our vanilla beans. The vanilla goes through a 4 stage process of killing the bean (this is done through the dipping method), it then goes through sweating process, the drying process and finally conditioning. The beans are closely monitored and constantly sorted by moisture content. Workers massage each bean by hand to make sure the drying is occurring evenly. Drying usually lasts for 3 to 4 weeks, with a goal of 25-30 percent moisture content.
