I ended up finding a compatible one for the pump at Pet Smart. I then had to buy a new pump because the one that came with the kit stopped working.

Q: So the filter that comes with it's so it can keep the water clean? So won't have to change the water often?

You will need to change it every week or two, depending on how often your pet uses the bathroom or how quickly it eats the food. I found that these are the two biggest issues. I still changed the water every week and cleaned the pump and checked the filter.
