Q: This is an lcd monitor, not led, right? but it also says "led backlit technology." can someone explain? i have read led is superior to lcd. avoid?

"LED screen" just means an LCD panel with LED backlight. Pretty much all flat screen screens are LCD (aside from OLED, the extinct plasma, and the upcoming *micro*-LED, which are totally different technologies). LCD screens used to be backlit with CCFL, fluorescent bars. Bulky, more fragile, less efficient, and worse image. LED backlights replaced those, but the label is wrong. "Mini-LED" just means it's a *lot* of small LED's that can light smaller and zones.

Q: Does this monitor work with apples thunderbolt 2 or 3? also, if it does, can you control the speaker volume and brightness from the mac keyboard?

Have had this product for a week. I got it to connect to my thunderbolt port and was able to control the volume from my keyboard.
