Training with the e-collar can start when your puppy shows they reliably understand commands but is choosing to not listen. This varies, but typically happens around six months. Keep sessions short and fun, always ending on a positive note.

Q: Are e- collars safe for my dog?

Yes, when used properly, the static setting on a quality e-collar is a safe and effective way to reinforce commands. It's comparable to feeling a static shock after rubbing your socks on carpet. Most people can barely feel the lower levels.
