Westcott Eyelighter 2 Reflective Panel

A bit pricey, but does a great job of adding a unique catchlight in the subject's eyes as it reduces or eliminates shadows in the neck and providing just the right amount of fill from beneath. I am not sure yet if I would use this for corporate work as it seems to add a more glamorous feel to the image than perhaps a business client would like (especially males).

This has been copied over and over again but nobody does this like the original from Westcott. It takes a while to get it dialed in just right but having done that once, it is a breeze thereafter. Part of the joy is the catchlights but the other part is the sheer quality of the reflected light. This is set up in my studio where it is now a permanent fixture for portraits. 100% recommend this great tool!

This reflector is light years ahead of what I used for high school seniors for years.

This is going to be a game changer for my portraits. However I think it’s over priced. I purchased this product because I had seen it actually work for another photographer and I a a shoot coming up that I wanted to use it in. However I wish I had the time to try some others that were less expensive. But I can say it definitely works.

a great tool for shaping light for portraits

I just purchased the Eyelighter II. Three areas of feedback:1. It was difficult getting the curved bar in the bracket to screw on the knob. There is a significant gap. I think the hole where the bolt goes is either off center a bit or too small for the bolt to fit through it. So the knobs are barely on there. (see photo #3 for reference)2. I don't like that the fabric is not smooth. There is not enough tension for the fabric to tighten to smooth it out so this is how it seems it will remain. I did a test pic and I can see the wrinkles in my catch light. It's all jiggity looking. (see all other photos for reference...excuse my models appearance...this was a test pic! lol!).3. For a wrinkled fabric that I can't straighten and a bolt that I can't tighten, the value doesn't fit the quality I received.Returning! I will purchase a cheaper model and hope for the best because I do like the lighting for headshots and beauty shots.

I love the Wescott Eyelighter reflector adds that beautiful catch light under the pupil that makes the eyes sparkle. Only complaint is the cost although it is nicely made the cost doesn't add up. But if you want that added edge to your photos that seperates your portraits from the others you'll need to look past the cost.
