Nostalgia made me choose this.
We always had one of these on my mother's piano, for my whole youth. It always performed perfectly, and I liked the solid sound of it, and the ease of use. So when my husband asked for a metronome to help him learn piano, I immediately went looking for the same one I grew up using, and I'm glad that I did. He really likes it for the same reasons I did, and it's been helpful to him to learn how to keep up with a beat. Very solid metronome, great sound, easy to use.

Old school is so much more satisfying than apps
I grew tired of smartphone metronome apps and electronic metronomes with their horrid sound. Most importantly, I wanted a metronome that's actually loud, so I don't drown out the clicks when I flatpick tunes on my guitar. This old-school metronome works fantastic, has a pleasing "tock" sound, is plenty loud and has a great, classic vibe about it. Plus, how many gadgets do you own these days that require a wind-up key? That alone is worth having this metronome.

Exactly what the piano teacher wanted
Any music student knows the importance of practicing with a steady rhythem, but some digital metronomes and cell phone apps that I had tried were not good enough. I like that this one winds up (no batteries needed) has a real pendulum arm to help visualize the beat, and clicks rather than beeps. This is a great tool any musician can appreciate.

helpful
Thought it was wood when ordered. However, operates without flaw, helps me keep timing, easy to set to the tempo desired. I'm very satisfied.

Pretty loud but a much more pleasant sound than the digital metronomes we upgraded from. Plus, the visible arm movement helps the kids use it both for piano and drums. Like the color and the classic styling. Exactly what we were looking for at a reasonable price.

Three-week old metronome died
I used this for teaching piano lessons and classes. It stopped working altogether during class today. No "tick," movement stopped. It has not been dropped or broken in any way. I dislike that it stopped working.
