After testing out the Dell OptiPlex 9020, I can safely say this speed demon delivers productivity optimization at its finest! At the core of this powerhouse sits an Intel Core i5 processor that allows me to glide effortlessly between programs, browsers and apps. Even with multiple resource-heavy programs running, I haven't experienced any lag or freezing thanks to the generous 16GB RAM. TO 'REFURB' OR NOT TO 'REFURB' THAT IS THE QUESTION...
I needed a replacement PC for simple internet access to AMAZON, news sites and streaming movies. That's it. I'm retired and so I'm looking for savings any way I can in these inflationary times. That said, I wondered about the 'REFURBISHED' DESKTOP' might be the way to go. I have a pretty good and large monitor, so I wanted just the desktop or tower. The price was right and decided to give it a go. Though I was wary about buying something refurbished, AMAZON'S 100% satisfaction warranty gave me some comfort to proceed. I purchased an extended warranty, just in case. The desktop arrived on time and the packaging was really good. No signs of damage. Examining the desktop PC. I found a small dent (blemish) on the side but that was to be expected according to AMAZON'S statement about 'RENEWED' condition. Spent a few minutes hooking hook the mouse, keyboard and using new VGA cable to hook up my monitor. Started up the PC and almost immediately, problems started. While trying to hookup WIFI to my modem (gateway), it asked for the security ID. I input the code and it would not recognize it. Double check it and reinput the code. Nothing, would not accept it. Thinking briefly (15 seconds) what to do, the screen/PC suddenly froze with streaky lines on the screen. I had to unplug the PC so I could attempt a restart. After plugging the PC again. I hit the start button. I could hear a whirling noise, it stopped and then nothing. Attempted this several time. Same thing happens. Nothing.I thought about calling the help desk/customer support, but thought against it. Seems like I was having some sort of hardware issue since I was unable to turn on the desktop, I thought this was a bad start and decided not to even try customer support to try and fix. I even purchased an extended warranty from AMAZON thinking I would need it in case of a failure withing the first couple of years. I didn't think the failure would be immediate. With these thoughts I decided against a replacement or fix and decided to return it.I need to do more research to determine how each 'REFURB' vendor goes about 'refurbishing' computers. If anyone knows, please reply to this comment. Now I'm mulling over whether to try a different vendor, a newer 'refurbed' model, or bit the bullet and buy a new tower.

Hard to believe bargain - revisited
I ordered this computer for home-office use and couldn't be more pleased. It was packaged professionally, very clean and looked brand new. Startup went flawlessly according to the instructions provided by the seller and Windows 10 Pro activated without any problems or issues. I wasn't expecting much in the way of the included keyboard, but it is actually quite sturdy and responsive. In terms of performance, it is hard to beat this computer for the price. The Intel Core I5 isn't the latest generation, but it is really fast and works very well with my data-intensive applications. 16gb of RAM is enough to power everything I have. And the graphics are quite good for multi-media, although not for dedicated gamers (which I am not). This computer cost me about $200. It did not come with a wifi dongle, but that wasn't really necessary since I connect to my network and the internet through ethernet. Highly recommended.Return window closed on Jul 1, 2020... On July 10, 2020 the power supply or motherboard failed. 10 days past the return window.

Great value and great system with flaws & problems.
Works well - but missing file so cannot create Windows Recovery drive. Amazon was responsive but unable to do and supposedly forwarded to remanufacturer who never contacted me. Found workaround back up means so still useable. Additionally get pop-up message window "WiFi Protected setup - PBC method and difficult to stop. Appears related to their internal Wi-Fi. Did eliminate for while by using USB WiFi instead. But after disconnect PC for flooring work and re-set up (with USB stick in) stupid message began appearing again. Can still us PC fine. Just continually see that warning window - if close it, it comes back up shortly afterward. Annoying. Otherwise great machine!!! OH! Internal video went out on me recently! But found cheap one on eBay and it worked find as soon as I put it in (in spite of some sites saying had to go to Bios & make changes!! Not so for me). Had it about 3 months already. Hopefully no additional problems - but who knows (Amazon did credit my cost for my troubles so definitely no problems with Amazon.
