Use the hidden menus to get the best from it, expensive, great with a WiFi 6 Mesh System
This is a stand-in until my Netgear X8 and Linksys EA9500 have security updates rather than work arounds.Likes: the modem has adjustable ADSL 2+ SNR and connects in PPPoA; the choice of three Internet sources; DFS channels; inbuilt protection; switchable WiFi so it can be disabled to let the WiFi 6 Mesh System provide coverage. Dislikes: poor user manual (especially if you're not familiar with ASUS' GUI); WiFi may have drop outs and 5GHz range could be better; BT Internet profiles didn't work.Update 7 March 2025For the last three years I've used it as an ADSL modem feeding ASUS routers. It has worked faultless whilst operating 24 hours everyday. This is expensive for an AC (WiFi 5) router unless you get a good deal from Amazon Warehouse. Internet souces can be ADSL, VDSL, or 3G/4G with two set up for fall over / fall back. There are profiles to set up various Internet providers, but the two for BT didn't work for me and I set it up manually. I knew that my phone line will be stable with a 3dB SNR (I use a Billion modem normally) on the ADSL2+ line, so it was nice to have the option to adjust it online. There are only four Ethernet ports so I will probably need to connect a switch. That said, the wired connections have been stable.WiFi produced some odd link speed readouts in a Samsung Tablet S, but a Surface laptop read the speeds without a problem. I was aware some people have had WiFi drop outs and declining signal strength, so I spent a few hours trying various recommendations that seem to have worked. That meant using the hidden menus. Moving from room to room with the Tablet can cause a slow reaction from the router WiFi, so maybe Beamforming is not as good as it could be.

Great router, but not too impressed with the signal
Amazing router, improved the overall speed of everything. But signal makes no difference when comparing with the talk talk modem. If you want a awesome gaming router that does everything buy it. If you buy it to improve you signal in the house get a mesh system.

NOT UK STOCK EUROPEAN PLUG
i will update this review soon but from first use i have no choice but to give it bad review as this was evidently shipped from Italy and came with European power lead. since UK does not use European type leads this is now a doorstop until a proper lead can be acquired

Didn't work out of the box
Very disappointed with this item, opened it up turned on and nothing, just the WiFi LED's dimly lit but nothing else,

+when its working,its brilliant
if it was not for the constant turning itself on and off, with a very loud click when it does it, it would be the best thing ever..it does have a good wifi distance .. has vpn..phone line, and wlan...it has 2 usb ports that you can share media on..and i had to reset it out of the box,and change password there and then, has it came with nothing to set it up with...apart from the code to register product .i even have a fan under it,as told they get hot and restart..i have updated drivers for it,and my graphics card..it can go days without playing up, then some days every hour turning off..
