Tried and true
I've recently redecorated my kitchen to a red theme, but am stumped about my coffee maker. You see, I bought this coffee maker 2 1/2 years ago and I can't let it go.My husband and I drink a lot of coffee. On weekends, we drink coffee from morning to night. And in the winter? It's a 5 pot-a-day season. When I buy coffee, the cashiers often think that I run a restaurant. I decided long ago that cheap coffee makers weren't for us. After I thought I had found my dream coffee maker with a fairly expensive Krups, only to be let down twice within a year by the machine malfunctioning in the same idiotic manner and poor customer service, I gave this maker a try.It has outlasted any coffee maker we've ever had. 2 1/2 years and STILL going strong! We had to replace the lid about six months ago since the gasket wore out and I was unable to find just a gasket. But other than that, it's been nothing but consistent great pots of coffee.I wish they made it in red! I know they make a glass carafe model in red, but I love the thermal pot too much.If you have any doubts about the reliability and the life of this machine, let those doubts go. Buy this machine, and good coffee is on the way!ETA: 10/31/15 - Just came across this review in my profile and thought I'd give it another update. This coffee maker is still kicking, still brewing delicious coffee, and still as reliable as the day I bought it. 2+ pots a day, and all it needs is regular cleaning. Never had a malfunction, and other than replacing the gasket on the thermal carafe it has had no problems. If it ever does, I hope they still make this coffeemaker so I can buy another one.

Great coffee maker
I did a lot of research before buying this coffee maker from Amazon. Some close contenders were the grind and brew and the higher dollar capresso's.I was really liked the idea of a grind and brew, yet across the board , from one maker to another, people reported problems with the process, whether it be moisture build up in the grinding area, too much coffee being left in the grinding process, problems maintaining brew strength, problems 'switching' coffee flavors, and time consuming cleaning processes.I thought I would invest and buy a higher dollar capresso without the grinder, but was really suprised and disappointed that multiple reviews stated they had problems with a ball float in the pot lid resulting in waking up to find coffee - all over the counter. In my humble opinion, waking up up to the best coffee in the world the rest of the year is not worth cleaning up that mess once in a while. The thermal carafe on the cuisinart is great. I understood before buying it that getting the last drop of coffee out of a thermal carafe lid or in fact using it to fill the water reserv. were problematic across most makers. I keep a 44oz plastic rest cup by my coffee supplies to fill the water and it is handy as I get the water from the filtered fridge and filling into the cup is actually more efficient than filling even into my old glass coffee carafe as they are all kind of bulky. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for about three hours.I am very happy with this product and gave it 5 stars.

Reliable energy saving coffee maker. Stop looking and buy this one!
I hardly ever write reviews but I can't say enough about how great this coffee maker is.I've had my Cuisinart DCC-1400 since around 2006, I use it nearly every day and it continues to work really well.Whether I put room temperature water in it or filtered water from my refrigerator, the coffee always comes out hot. I usually brew for just me or me and one other person so I'm almost always hitting the 1-4 button and I think that might make a difference. I know some reviewers comment that they get lukewarm coffee but that has never been a problem for me. In fact, the coffee stays hot without using tons of electricity keeping it that way, which is a feature I really like. I can come back to a previously brewed pot 2 or 3 hours later and the coffee is still hot!I use a measuring cup to add water so I don't even look at the markings on the side, but if you rely on markings to know how much water you've put in I can see how that might be a problem.I like this coffee maker so much that I've bought it for two different spots in Afghanistan where I was deployed since I got my first model around 10 years ago, and am about to buy another one for my airbnb apartment. I haven't had a problem with any of them & wholeheartedly recommend this coffee maker.
