Bad product, I suggest you buy expensive to get what you deserve.
Worst quality paint ever. I had to not use it. It was rubbish, dried fast and did not meet my expectations. You do get what you paid for. By the way, if you try to mix any of it with other paint it becomes mash potatoes.

Works best on untreated, rough cut wood.
This doesn't work very well over fine grained, treated, or sanded wood. It seems to need to soak into the wood to work best. It's a little hard to work with, but not awful. Try not to get it on your skin, the tar is hard to get off. It goes on brown, but dries a lovely black. It's much cheaper than most paints though, and great to cover the rough cut lumber I use for fencing.

Worst paint
Within 8 months of properly painting fences, the paint was showing signs of wearing off. Within one and a half years, the fences definitely needed to be repainted. This is the absolute worst paint ever! I wish I could have back all the hours I spent painting with this junk paint!

Please read my review carefully before purchasing.
I have read A LOT of reviews of this paint. So, I'd like to share mine. This is a tricky paint to work with. It works fine but take some precautions.Buy the following (if you don't already have): 1. Gloves 2. Drop cloth (they sell cheap ones) 3. Drill attachment paint stirrer 4. Paint thinnerI used my Wagner paint sprayer with this paint and it worked fine. First, I poured 1/3 of the paint in another bucket, and poured some thinner in there. I then stirred thoroughly with the drill attachment for about 3 min. I did this each time I had to refill the bucket.I love my Wagner paint sprayer. It is one of the smaller ones so I had to stop and refill a lot but also, the clean up was easier. Make sure you clean everything thoroughly with mineral spirits. You'll want to do everything over the drop cloth. I laid mine down in the parking spot. Made for easy clean up in the end. You will go through many gloves but it's worth it. This paint is messy and sticky.I painted 3/4 of an acre of farmers fencing (both sides) with 15 gallons of this paint.I have read that some have had issues with it peeling. Mine is new so it hasn't done that. I wonder if people aren't waiting long enough for their pressure treated wood to dry out. I waited 8 months.

Probably only good for untreated fence posts.
I painted about 500 feet of cedar picket fence front and back with this paint. I discovered after several attempts that this stuff cannot be applied with a power sprayer. The first attempt was with a campbell hausfeld unit I got at Northern Tool. This particular machine was advertised as being built especially for asphalt based farm paint. Even with the largest nozzle I could find, it clogged almost immediately. A later had two separate paint contractors attempt the same with their sprayers with the same result. I ended up having to paint the entire fence, two coats with a brush. This is the ONLY way this paint can be applied, trust me on this! The good news is if you don't let the brush dry out (which happens quickly) it can be cleaned fairly easily in water. Actually, I discovered it was best to leave the brush soaking in water between uses. How about longevity? Well after more than 2 years the paint has faded badly and is chipping/washing off in spots. Does not have the staying power I had hoped for. I think the only practical use for this paint is for painting the buried portions of untreated fence posts only. I would not recommend it for anything else.

Great product for what it's intended for.
This is a great product for weatherproofing 3 rail horse fences and such. It's not a paint if that what you are expecting. It's an asphalt based coating that needs to be applied thick.

If you are going to paint your fence black.....
This stuff is pretty good! Covers well, drys fast. I only started using this brand 6 months ago, so I'm not sure how it holds up over time, but as of now, I am very satsified with it. Cleans up easy with water.
