Is the cover/skid plate meant to stay on the coil while you're using your metal detector?

Absolutely leave the cover on and do not remove it only to clean the dirt underneath of it make sure when you take it off you take it off gently and wash the dirt out under in between the coil and the cover skid plate and then replace it and snap it back in tightly all the way around everywhere it's going to protect your coil and believe me you will need it.

Fits as it should. It's a skid plate. Maybe I should have dinged a star because of its limited color selection. ( black only)

Skid plate will not snap into place as advertised.

Coil skid plate would not snap into place. I tried to attach the skid plate to the equinox 900 for 30 minutes and had no luck. I had to use zip ties to attach it.
