I am an experienced player and have heard good things about the D'Addario Reserve mpc, so gave it a try. Intonation and ease of play are similar to the vintage hard rubber piece I use on my vintage (a 1960 Couesnon) horn, but the D'Addario mpc (155) was definitely brighter and possibly louder. Not extreme, but my needs and taste lean darker -- I mostly play classical, and sometimes second alto in a swing band. In short, this is a nice kind of middle of the road piece but not my cup of tea so I returned it. Your mileage may vary!

Great mouthpiece!

This mouthpiece is fantastic. I've been using since it first came out (I have one of the first 200 made) and it's my main mouthpiece. I've used it for auditions to top undergraduate music programs as well as competitions and it's been awesome. Highly recommend anyone try this. I also tried the 150 model but didn't like it at all. It sounded stuffy to me compared to the 155. The 145 could be worth a try though.
