entertainment
The book is a little slow sometimes but the storyline makes up for it. I am certainly read the next one in the series!

Good!
I really enjoyed reading this book! The story is so different from the main series, and I liked that it gave me a break from sci-fi to fantasy. I'm always reading at least two books at the same time of different genres, so that I can pick whatever I want to match my mood. The characters are really great! Almost immediately I felt that I knew who they were, which is what makes me care about what happens to them. And finally, the story was very good. Heartbreak, laughs, action, magic, and all in a world we're just seeing again. Irth.🐝✋🐺

Continuity issues
If you've read, or plan to read, the Age of Madness series about Sarah Jennifer or Caitlin, or even the Kurtherian Endgame series, there's a continuity issue that can be jarring. In this series it seems that the Madness was a result of some people not being able to handle having nonocites. In other series it was caused by a computer virus created by a Kurtherian geneticist who reprogrammed the nanocites to destroy Bethany Ann's home world. It's still a great story, I just spent a lot of the beginning saying "that's not right, why is everyone blaming Bethany Ann, is this even the same Ezekiel?". Long story short, it's the same Ezekiel with different authors. It might have been written before the others, it's just a bit jarring to have so much of the history rewritten 50 years later. My favorite character is Sal, and I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.

Well written, but a bit shallow
The plot was enjoyable, and I enjoyed the world, but I felt that the characters were a bit shallow. Nothing terrible, but fairly simple archetypes and emotional reactions. I'm very glad that too much angst was avoided, though. :) Maybe they're saving that for the next book.Generally a fun read, but nothing special.

The universe IS expanding
The Kurtherian Gambit's many branches are proof: The universe is indeed expanding.RESTRICTION is a new branch from the fertile concepts envisioned by Michael Anderle in the mainline Kurtherian Gambit series that began with Death Becomes Her (The Kurtherian Gambit Book 1) . This restless, boundless energy and creativity remind me of the Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold, much of which was enabled by the "uterine replicator." (Ideal examples: Ethan of Athos (Vorkosigan Saga Book 7) and Cetaganda (Vorkosigan Saga Book 6) )Authors CM Raymand and LE Barbant connect their story to Anderle's Kurtherian base by seeing the rise of magic in future centuries, due to the proliferation of humans with nanocytes that previously created results like werewolves. Now some humans can access magic by connecting to the Etheric power that sent the Queen Bitch herself, Bethany Anne, to the stars. That's clearly relevant since the heroine, Hannah, lives on Queen Bitch Boulevard. If that all reads like Greek, don't worry. RESTRICTION pulls you gently into the unknown.RESTRICTION is set in a post-post-apocalyptic world. That gives the authors enormous freedom. It's a good story, written well. I liked the concept, the characters, and the growing cavalcade of possibilities. Copy editing is better than many ebooks but slightly below the standard of a mass market paperback. The few errors did not intrude too much while reading. This may be the start of a good, fresh series. I say "Go for it."

A story of potential!
I understand this tale was the result of a desire to write something for his daughter and suggestions from others. Well, it has been an absolute pleasure to read the culmination of such ideals.A tale of a child coming of age and realizing that true success always comes from within...in this instance, magic and justice are exactly that realization (or more precisely, the manifestation of it).An entertaining read. It flows well enough that scene changes become expected and despite any character flaws, the participants will leave you cheering or cursing. Depending on who is up.I'd recommend this highly. It's nothing to sit and fly through this and then feel disappointed the tale has ended!I'm looking forward to the next installment. If it's only half as enjoyable, it'll be well worth it!!!My thanks to the author(s?) for this!

Quality intro to the Age of Magic
I was excited about this book and its authors after listening to their podcasts. They have a history of words and academia and I wanted to see how they would transform that into the Kurtherian Gambit series. Great job guys! The characters are engaging, with the reader having no problem distinguishing between the good and the bad people. Regarding the plot, it moves very quickly, as the war between Hannah and Adrien escalates to a fever pitch. This novel reads smoothly (great job with the editing), leaving the reader to avidly turn each page. So, why 4 stars? It is a little repetitive in some parts (Parker, for instance, during his secretive entrance into Arcadia and the chase across the roofs repeatedly says that he is so very familiar with secret entrances, alleys, finding ways to get on the roof, the path across the roofs. This is definitely written using different words, but the meaning is repeated.) As they continue the series, I expect these glitches will disappear.

Brilliant book.
Thank you chaps. You've moved tkg in a new but strangely logical direction. Scifi meets fantasy big time. Mr A wanted to drag fantasy fans into sci-fi and this book drags sci-fi into fantasy. I had a fab time reading this book. As I hane to say, next please!
