I hope these chocolates will give a flavour of the North East as we celebrate and reflect on our amazing heritage, and enjoy all that our fabulous city has to offer.” Jane Williams, Head Chocolatier, Davenport’s Chocolates The Singing Hinny is a rich Northumbrian 'drop scone', each side cooked in turn on a hot griddle with a sizzle that 'sings'. It  dates back to cooking traditions of Northumberland coal miners’ families in the nineteenth century. It is served with a knob of melting butter and a spoonful of brown sugar. Our 'Singing Hinny' is a white chocolate truffle, dotted with raisin and shortbread crumbs. It is then enrobed in smooth milk chocolate and finished with a dusting of sugar. ‘Hinny’ is a term of endearment, from ‘honey’ and we hope you will one day enjoy the hospitality of the North East of England.
