I didn't really want to spray paint my teak lawn furniture, but after trying everything from Teak Oil to Spar Varnish, I finally decided on Alkyd Enamel. That stuff is great when brushed or rolled, but the lawn furniture has some complicated feature that only a sprayer could get to. I was surprised to not get a viscosity cup with the sprayer and ordering one set me back a week, but in the tend, I got a great finish. This was my first time with a HVLP Spray gun and it worked really well. Just need to get the paint viscosity right and that's pretty easy. Use the viscosity cup the first time and you can eyeball it from then on. Fairly easy to clean and reassemble. I would recommend it to a friend!

The unit does a good job, however, I should have bought a bigger unit. This is ok for the most part, but I just need a gun with more capacity. Does a good job, easy clean and the price is good.

Great tool for smaller jobs

I am a professional woodworker but I have never done any finishing. On commercial jobs the painting contractor handles all the finishing. I am now doing smaller residential work and commissioned furniture, where the customer rarely has a painting contractor so I need to furnish pre-finished mill work. I thought I would buy an entry level HVLP rig and learn the basics of spray finishing by doing a couple of simple jobs and then make an informed decision on a professional system. I have previously purchased other Rockler products and they have been professional level quality or better. I decided to try their HVLP system. It was the shocking how bad this piece of junk is. I spent 3 days trying to find anything that this piece of useless junk would spray . It is poorly made, it is a nightmare to clean, the trigger and needle get stuck and you have to turn off the machine to stop it from spraying. Paint gets caked in places where you cant possibly clean. The tools they provide are cheap plastic. The instruction manual is pathetic. It might be suitable for painting a fence if you didnt mind having to stop every 10 minutes and clean it. I am furious with Amazon that I cant return it but I did not open the box until the return window had expired.

Excellent Sprayer.

I bought this unit 3 years ago and absolutely have loved it. I have 3 sprayers and this is the one I always pull out to use. Unfortunately this year I have had 3 different parts break and neither Rockler or Earlex carries replacement parts for the gun. It has been a very painful process of creating fixes on parts that should either have been better engineered or should have replacement parts easily available. Sadly this has stained my thoughts of both brands and now has me looking to other manufacturers like Fuji for my next sprayer.

Used this to paint all of our trim in our new house, worked great.

It works pretty much as advertised.
