Great for those who are able-bodied but temporarily disabled!
This scooter is probably the best thing you could do for yourself if you don't have use of one of your legs. I used it to transport myself while recovering my fractured left foot. I'm a relatively fit 25 year old guy and was able to get around comfortably in my home, at work, and on the street. My condo has two steps up and down I had to navigate with this scooter. It was easy enough for me to stand on one leg, set the scooter on the steps, and hop up. It requires some strength to get rolling on carpet, but this should be manageable for most people. I never really took advantage of the claimed 90 degree turn radius. For me, it was easier to "pop a wheelie" and rotate the scooter on it's back wheels to turn.I took this scooter with me on a business trip to San Diego and received a ton of looks and compliments. This can be a good or bad thing, depending on who you are and who is commenting. Sometimes I was discouraged to go out in public, but if you gotta get around then you gotta get around. With a little bit of balance, coordination, and upper body strength, I was able to navigate my way through the Gaslamp District's brick sidewalks. Admittedly, I have fallen a few times where the pavement or sidewalk was uneven. Luckily none of the falls were horrible, but I think falling is almost inevitable unless you are extremely careful. The basket is somewhat small, but still useful. You can't fit a 15" laptop in it, but it's great for holding smaller items. I did notice that because of the way the basket attaches to the scooter, depending on how it's handled, the basket may eventually break off. The prongs on the scooter have already eaten through quite a bit of my basket, but it's still holding on.Ultimately, this device was invaluable to my recovery and allowed me to live somewhat of a normal life during the 6 weeks I used it. While at work I used it as a footrest to keep my foot elevated. I would recommend getting one of those shag covers for the rubber knee rest if you are going to be wearing shorts as sweat tends to form between the pad and the knee which can make things very slippery. I would not recommend this to someone who is unable to lift the scooter or balance on one foot on their own. I would also not recommend this to someone who could potentially sustain critical damage from taking a small fall.

Perfect 3-Point Turnabout, but You’ll Need Padding
Having never used a knee scooter before, I thought they’d all be the same. I was wrong. Massively wrong.I bought the “economy” model of another brand and, sure, it was fine going in a straight line, even backwards. But turning? LOLOLOLOL. Inside my 1600 sf home, I spent more time stepping off of it to lift and manually position it than I did actually riding on it.So I crossed my fingers and threw more money at my problem hoping that the adage “You get what you pay for,” would hold true and bought this SwivelMate. And – hooray! – the adage is true!Pros:-- It can perform an actual 3-point turnabout in my tight galley kitchen. No need to pick up the scooter and manually re-position it.-- It is *infinitely* easier to assemble than the economy model of the other brand. Pull on the arthritis-friendly knob on the rear wheels, swing them out from under the seat and let them click into place. Loosen the arthritis-friendly knob at the base of the handlebar pole, swing the pole upright, and tighten the knob. Then adjust the height of the seat and the handlebars via the bolt and arthritis-friendly “nut” (large knob that screws onto the bolt) on each. Slide the basket onto its bracket and you’re ready to roll.-- The knee pad is off-center for either right leg or left leg injuries. My left foot is injured, so I put the pad in per the directions for left-side injuries. The pad is off-center to the right of the scooter, putting it closer to being directly under my left hip. With the economy model, my left leg was further away from my center of gravity.-- It only weighs 22 lbs. My bedroom is even tinier than my kitchen, and there’s no room for a 3-point turnabout so I ride the scooter into the room, get my crutches, and then bend over to grab the back of the knee pad, swinging the back end around to get the scooter facing outward toward my door.-- The wheelbase is longer than the economy model, making it more stable.Cons:-- Oof, that knee pad! If you’re ordering this scooter (and you should, if you need a knee scooter), go ahead and buy a knee pad cover now. I bought one that is memory foam and one that is foam with a lumpy fleece covering. Because I like a cushy ride, I lowered the knee pad by one notch and put both covers on. [PLEASE NOTE: This is not a “con” that is exclusive to SwivelMate. I had originally bought the covers for the economy model, whose knee pad was also uncomfortable.]-- The basket is teensy. That was the one good thing about the economy model, so I swapped out the SwivelMate basket for the competitor’s basket. Just keep in mind that you really do NOT want a ton of weight out on the front of the scooter. If it gets overbalanced, it could tip over forward which would be really, really bad. For me, the larger basket means I can fit a plastic grocery bag full of laundry in it. I couldn’t do that with the SwivelMate basket.-- Padding on the handlebar grips might be needed, depending on the size of your hands. I had finally gotten to the point that the palms of my hands quit hurting when using crutches but then, after using the SwivelMate for a week, they started hurting again. Turns out that their ergonomic design doesn’t fit my hands. Easily solved with some neoprene grip covers, though.-- The wheelbase is longer than the economy model. Yes, I listed this as a Pro above but, dangit, I forget how long the rear wheels are and back them into stuff all the time. But maybe this is more of a “me” problem than a SwivelMate problem. :-)All in all, I’m really happy with this scooter. Even though I’ve listed some Cons, they’re all easily mitigated, so it’s not like they’re negative things that will impact my usage of the scooter for the entire time I need it.I know the price is higher than others on this site but, for real, you get what you pay for.

Seat cushion cracking
I purchased this Knee Scooter in Maya 2022. I'm a below the knee amputee. So I was looking for a sturdy scooter for long term use. I added a black Mobility Knee scooter pad cover and a cushion to the knee pad. In May 2024 I needed to replace the knee pad cover and cushion as it was getting worn. When I removed it I discovered the original pad cover has cracked. That's the reason for the overall 4 star rating. As for the rest of the scooter all is still working 100%. So if you are looking for a sturdy mobility scooter that has an excellent turning radius for short term use, such as leg injury or surgery recovery, this is the scooter for you. But if you want it for long term use, keep an eye on the seat cover as it doesn't last long. I used mine morning and night ( when my prosthetic leg is off) for 2 years, and it's still going strong [the scooter, not the leg]

If you are an elderly person or easily break bones do not use this model
I have been using knee walkers for almost four years, this is the second model I am using. There is a huge design flaw. The middle tire is in the wrong position. If you hit anything that is not level then the knee walker will stop abruptly. At that point you either fall to a side or fall over the handle bar. This happens no matter how slow you are going. If you are an elderly person or easily break bones do not use this model. I even brought this issue to my surgeons attention so he would not permit other patients to use this model.
