Perfect for playing in the snow
I got this as a fun way for my dogs to "hunt" when it snows. The locator sound is audible when it gets buried in a snow bank and my dogs love it. Just be careful as the inside part can dislodge from the ball if you have it hit hard surfaces.

Had great potential, but was very disappointing.
The idea of this is great.. hence the purchase.However I was sorely disappointed in the actual product and believe it could have been produced better.Has so far withstood our bordercollie x pup’s chewing. But the tune is quite obnoxious and startles my blind pup even when she is expecting it, not regular enough and cuts out after emitting it’s tune once or twice after turning it on - really defeating the purpose. Is a bit too solid to be a throwing toy in my opinion and honestly, given my experience with ChuckIT products previously I genuinely questioned whether this ball was legitimate.

Check the battery
Just got it and it wouldn’t turn on. Have to pry it open and readjust the batteries. Works now. Also, no replacement battery is included.

The sound ruins it
The ball is very hard and sturdy but the noise is not something my dog or any dog really responds to. I bought it for my mostly blind dog who loves playing fetch but has a really hard time seeing the ball. I was hoping this ball would have a squeaky type noise like all her other toys but it sounds more like a cell phone chime. Pretty disappointing. Great idea, just poor execution.

Suits our purposes
We purchased this as a transitional toy for our black lab that is losing her vision to cataracts. We didn't expect to use this for throwing. We play 'hide the ball' in the house during winter weather and that is the way we use it outdoors. We place our dog at 'sit' and make a big show of walking around the park, ducking into shrubbery at different obscured locations where we pantomime hiding the ball. When we release the dog, she retraces our route until she locates the ball by its sound and returns it for more.This is a sturdy semi-plyable plastic ball that withstands our lab's slobber. We've tossed it in the chuckit thrower a few times without issues. It reliably sends out a sonar-type pinging sound that our dog immediately recognizes and responds to (eagerly). The battery is replaced by unscrewing one end of the blue plastic core, removing it and replacing the battery. -our dog's favorite toy.

Not durable
It didn't work when I got it. I'm assuming the batteries it came with were dead. Then my dog separated the hard and soft areas and shredded the soft part.

Sound did not work
I had to literally disassemble this item to remove the plastic from between the batteries. Once i did remove the plastic and reassemble it; nothing, no noise ever at all. It looks like the wiring is shotty and with cheap materials. You can also tell that there was not a lot put into the manufacturing of the plastic as the pieces don't fit perfectly together.

Perfect for blind dog!
We love this ball! Our dog recently went blind due to SARDS. She is 9 and loved to play fetch before losing her sight. This ball is perfect for her and she loves playing fetch (seek) with it. We have other sensory balls that have jingle bells inside and are scented but this one is the best because it continues to beep while she is seeking it. This ball keeps her active as she runs around the yard or nearby park trying to find it since she is fearful of going on walks now. Once she finds it, I call her back to me and she drops it upon command. I toss it out and tell her to seek and off she goes. I don't let her chew on it, so I imagine it will last for a long time. Great toy!

Not sure about this at all.
Well. It arrived much earlier than expected and it was swiftly stolen. My 7 month lab carried it around for a while. I read directions and proceeded to get it to work. After getting batteries sorted out, press until light comes on. What light?????? No light was visible even taking it into bedroom with blackout blinds!!!!! Threw it and it started bleeping. Pup won't go near it. Lol.Anyway, will trial it properly on walk this afternoon on rough ground. Not sure it will stand up to hitting stones, slobber, teeth et Al. As it is a training device ergo, used by young dogs, it really could do to be a bit more "robust". I can only try and see what happens.
