Good Looking and Practical
We have a home that was built in the 50’s and are trying to tastefully update the bathroom so as to modernize it while retaining period details. The old GFCI outlet above the sink was an eyesore that stuck out from the beginning because the previous owners installed an ivory colored one with black and red test and reset buttons. And so it really leapt out at you. Especially after we upgraded the vanity mirror lightswitch to a motion detector one. And we had to replace the faceplate to the larger decora style switch so we looked around for a faceplate that would go with our bathroom. We chose the Leviton. It has a smaller footprint having less depth which makes it easier to install in older shallow wall boxes. Installation was simple enough since I was replacing the old one. There are five terminals on the GFCI. For basic instruction we only needed three. The extras are taped off with caution tape because they bypass the protection and you probably wouldn’t want to use those in the bathroom. Once installed, if you have the wires set up correctly, there is a nice small green LED indicator that shows the GFCI is running correctly. Since I was careful and wired it correctly the first time I didn’t get to find out whether the LED goes red or simply doesn’t work wired incorrectly. The reset and test switches are plain buttons with labels embossed on the surface using same color as the GFCI. So the whole thing is quite discreet and relies on the LED to let you know if there are any problems.Overall it looks much cleaner and improves the overall look of the bathroom so we are really pleased. I recommend it.

New GFI Not Much Thinner than Old Unit
When I read the review for this GFI I thought it was going to be much thinner. But when I went to replace the GFI I already had I found that both were the same thickness. My old GFI was build around twenty years ago. I made the mistake of thinking that the manufactures used a conventional format with the load and power inputs. So I took the wires of the old one and replaced them in the same order on the new one. My mistake. The new unit reversed the load and power. By the time I realized my mistake I had two of the four wires mixed up so it took a lot of testing to get the connections right. Otherwise, the new GFI is performing okay. My old one was blowing the GFI under very small loads.

Easy to install, looks and works great
I've purchased a few of these Leviton GFCIs now, and all of them have worked flawlessly. Just like the Leviton 15-Amp GFCI of the same line, this GFCI isn't really much thinner than your average modern GFCI--except the front face is recessed a little more than cheaper alternatives.Installation is easy, using screw-down back wire clamps, and the instructions are very clear. There's a line and load side, and the load side has a sticker over it clearly stating that the feed should only be connected to the line side, making installation even easier (since you don't have to squint to read the instructions embossed in the plastic). The outlets seem to hold up well--I'm using these in the basement, to feed some other outlets in an unfinished workshop area (code requires any outlets within I think 6' of the floor to be GFCI-protected). It comes with a decora faceplate, and all the required screws, as well as a set of stickers so you can easily label outlets down the line that are GFCI-protected.

It's called "Pro" for a good reason!
This high-quality GFCI outlet has two important features not found on most run-of-the-mill outlets for outdoor use:1. Shutters on the plug sockets; help to keep junk out of the plugs2. Really nice side-mount wire terminals. Keeps the romex or whatever wiring you use locked down with solid contact.I'll be using SmartlockPro GFCI outlets whenever I replace an outdoor GFCI... so long as this one lasts a good amount of time!

Much slimmer than regular GFCI outlets.
GFCI outlets are so often really really deep (compared to standard outlets), making them harder to fit into junction boxes which have a lot of other wires in them. This outlet helps with that by being at least a half inch thinner than most others. A half inch might not seem like much, but it sure made a difference for my installation. Was very pleased and would buy again in a heartbeat if I needed a thin GFCI.

Not for arthritis sufferers
Mother has had some difficulty in plugging her curling iron and hair dryer. I figure it is because of the safety feature for keeping kids from sticking things in there. However, if you have arthritis or another condition where you don't have hand strength, I would not recommend.

Perfect for RV's
I installed this in my camper van to replace the 30 year old existing outlet. The fit was fine and I liked that there is a small green LED on the front that gives the status of the plug. Add to that the tamper resistant interface and you have yourself a nice plug for all around use. Leviton is high quality and this outlet is no exception.PROsEasy to installEasy to see that it is onEasy to test the fault circuitEasy to use and understand how the tamper-resistant mechanism works.CONsNone.

Passes Muster
Good quality hardware. Included plastic wall plate is made in US. GFCI device itself is made in China. Green LED is normally on, and not too bright. ...Just right. Tasteful buttons are same color as the body, in this case black. The "slim" designation is subjective, but it does occupy less box area than earlier GFCI's. Less garish than most GFCI's..
