NOT an 8 watt radio
I used a fully charged battery and a 10 watt dummy load. Measured the output power using a bird meter with 10w slug.Output was 6.2 watts.

TIDRadio 8 Watt VHF/UHF a great quality value!
Had a Pgm Cable from a a previous TIDRadio UV5R equivelant 5 Watt TID Radio order (also a good buy) and used Chirp programming software for easy programming of the TID Radio model memories as a Baofeng BF8-HP 8 Watt Radio.Only noticed difference, besides it was a much better value for the price, radio & acc. With 2-2100 Ma. Batteries, was a slight cosmetic difference in the speaker grill and the LCD display does not have the high contrast reverse mode shown in the newest Baofeng info. Everything worked for me on the branded TID Radio. Very pleased and good reports. So pleased, I just ordered another one!

Brings fiddling back to ham radio.
Remember the days when ham radio was getting something to work was the goal, and communicating was a bonus? Those days are back with this radio.Evidently there are different types of this radio model. This one isn’t a broadband scanner/transmitter, just a dual band ham transceiver with a little more bandwidth. For the money it was exactly what I was looking for. Something to have in a bag in case of emergency. It has a decent amount of power to access repeaters when you are out in the sticks, has good audio and modulation. The only hassle is manually programming the repeater pairs. Took me two hours to find the directions on the internet. Supposedly using a computer makes the job easier, but I’m too cheap to buy the interface cable. ._._. . .

Buyer Beware
Although this radio is a great value for the money and can be programmed to do a lot of things, Buyer Beware, it is a commercial radio from China and not approved by the FCC as an Amateur Radio because it does not meet Ham Radio standards. It can easily be modified to receive and transmit outside of the Amateur Radio Frequency allocations. I understand that the vendor may be working with the FCC on these concerns.

Serves well in the field
This is an upgrade from the BaoFeng UV-5R radio. The unit does not come with a programming disk or the programming cable. Luckily, I had an older cable and used the CHIRP software to program my desired frequencies. Intergrates well. This is a commercial radio from China and as of this post is not approved by the FCC as an Amateur Radio because it does not meet Ham Radio standards. Freq modifications can easily be tweeked to receive and transmit outside of the Amateur Radio Frequency allocations. I needed a backup in my pack in case of emergency. It has a decent amount of power (not 8 watts as claimed, but 6.2 watts under load test) to access repeaters when you are out in the boonies. Extra battery is helpfull as is the longer antenna for field work. The radio has good audio and modulation and as others have mentioned it has exceptional quality and ruggedness. This radio can be used as walkie-talkies using the family FCC frequencies. I am very content with my purchase.

If you haven't bought one of those TIDRADIO (TD-F9GP) HTs yet, read this first.
The thing I found that I SERIOUSLY don't like about the (TD-F9GP) radio is the speaker-mic connector on the side of the radio, and it's a deal-breaker. I am re-thinking my decision to buy any more of this model. And it's an issue that is REALLY aggravating because up to now, the thing was acceptable, quality-wise. It is fairly sturdy, it has good 'heft' to it. It feels well-built. Except for the difficult programming, it seemed to be a quality item. The mic/speaker plug on the side of the unit (which is also used to access the programming interface) is faulty and flimsily made. It doesn't work. plug in the speaker-mic and it doesn't work. It seemed like a loose connection. Push the mic/speaker in a little more, the unit keys-up. Pull it a little loose to stop the key-up, the mic (PTT) doesn't work, and there is no audio out of the speaker. Jiggle the cord, the unit jumps in-and-out of key-up. How this affects programming with a computer is anyones guess. I should have seen this coming when I watched an on-line video about programming the unit via computer. It said that sometimes a STRONG rubber-band is needed to hold the connector on the programming cable tightly into the radio. Further inspection revealed the flimsy nature of the connector (receptacle) on the side of the unit. I am REALLY disappointed. Up until now, it seemed like a really good product for such a reasonable price. Too bad - the little thing works rather well. Receiver sensitivity seems good, especially with the longer antenna. The programming, using the keypad, is actually simpler than on my Wouxun Dual-Bander. I have yet to get any on-air reports of audio quality, but the RECEIVED AUDIO is quite acceptable. The owners manual that comes with the radio is almost useless. Menu Items descriptions are missing. It seems that a page was omitted when it was printed. It is so small that it is difficult to read. If it weren't for the keypad programming to be marginally simple I would return the unit. I still may. I will not buy any more.

Amazing customer service
First of all I Would like to clarify that I have owned Ham radios for quite some time, I like to listen to the different repeaters in my area and some time just use it as a weather radio, this radio is like any other rebranded radio from boafeng, nothing fancy, it does come well equipped with accessories, which for the price you can not even have anything in the market that can compare, but what really set this radio far ahead of any other radio I have owned is the terrific customer service the seller provides, long story short, the order got delivered missing a couple items of the accessories, I emailed customer service and they rushed me a complete brand new unit, that is not even heard off in this time, I will do business with this company again and I have already recommended it to a lot of my friends and 4 of them already purchased radios from them,I will 100% buy from you again if you offer an item I am looking for.GREAT JOB 👍
