Perfect for Home Workout Area
I ordered three sets a little while ago, but just finished installing them. My initial impression is that they are perfect for a home workout area. They provide the right amount of cushioning without feeling overly squishy which I did not want for my purpose. Easy to snap together with all the puzzle pieces fitting nicely. Easy to trim with scissors or a "break-away blade" trim knife. I am glad the packaging includes the smooth edge because it gives a nice finished look when assembly is complete. I assume they will stand up to the relatively moderate use for which I purchased them. I am going to purchase a couple of more packages to expand my covered area slightly.I have now purchased several additional packages of this item to expand my workout area. All packages have consistent height so there are no uneven edges (Before I purchased these HemingWeigh mats, I read the reviews of other similar products and this was mentioned as a complaint). I DID place duct tape on the back side of the mat along all interlocking joints to prevent the edges from separating during workouts and I also ran the mats from wall to wall, again to prevent separating. I have now used the mats for over six months and those two steps work perfectly and there has been NO separation of the mats along the interlocking edges no matter what level of exercise is being performed. One minor issue is that just like carpeting, if you place something heavy on the mat it will create a "dent" in the mat. So, if you place something heavy and you do not intend to leave it in that spot permanently you will need to understand this will happen. I have a Bowflex bench that I knew I would want to occasionally relocate within the room. To prevent denting, I placed large size "Carpet Sliders" under the legs of the bench and it works perfectly. There is only very minor denting which quickly goes away on its own and, more importantly, the bench easily slides across the matting whenever I want to move it.

Didn't hold up in my home gym for more than a week. Need more durable stuff.
I will start out by saying that I understand where some people are giving this high reviews. In the right setting, this seems like it could be a great product. However, I am reviewing this based on the product in my application which seemed appropriate according to the product description.I bought these for a home gym that I was putting together in my garage on top of concrete. Reading the product page, it says they are high quality for exercising so I went for it. I think there's a place for these in some home gyms, but not mine After less than a month of use I'm taking them out and replacing them with the real gym mats. Here's why:- The locking mechanisms are not very strong. Any movement exercises such as mountain climbers, jumping jacks, burpees cause them to start to separate. Some people suggest taping the bottom of them. I don't know, I didn't try it. I shouldn't have to. If the product needs taping it should come with tape.- Slippery. I was doing a push up exhaustion and did all of the normal ones I could, then went to doing them on my knees to continue more push ups. Even without being very sweaty, the mats are so slick my knees would slide out from under me. Shoes seem to grip it OK, but not near as well as the good stuff.- Don't hold up to dropping weights - I bought these to do Crossfit on. The area where I was dropping a bar was damaged after just a few workouts. Just by the product page, this seems like it should have been okay. After receiving the product, it's very clear it's not meant for that. That's totally fine, but it should have some sort of indicator of what it is and is not useful for. What's good about the product:- These work great where there isn't much movement. I am still using some of these under my squat rack. I think they'll hold up just fine there. No weights are expected to drop, no fast movements are taking place. I also have them under my weight stand. Should be fine. If you have things which are static or some equipment like treadmills to put these under, go for it. Anything else, spend more money and get the real mats. I don't think they provide adequate protection for between heavy equipment and carpet.- They look nice (until they're damaged). If you use them, note that each piece has two different exterior pieces. One is for corners and one is for middle-edged pieces. You can tell by looking at the very far left of it. Pay attention to which one you pull off to save you some time. For those who are wondering, I purchased some of the 3/4" 4x6 mats to replace this and am beyond thrilled with the quality. They are quite a bit more expensive, but they will last a lifetime.

UPDATEI commend the seller for its customer service. The seller contacted me and explainbed that Amazon shipped the wrong product the second time (see below). The seller offered to do whatever was necessary to make me a satisfied customer. So, the seller gets five stars for trying hard. Now I have seven sets and they all fit together. However, the finish consistencly between sets is still variable. Some are shinier than others and the patterns are not stamped on uniformly (some are crooked). Having said that, the product works for our intended use-a workout surface in our basement. I would use a different product if I were concerned a bout a professinal look, but this prodcut is adequate for use of uniform appearance is pnot a paramount concern.I ordered several packs at one time to use as a workout area. The pads all fit together, but the finish was obviously different between sets--some were more shiny and had a slightly different pattern. I could live with that and decided within a few days to order two more sets to expand the workout area. I ordered them using the "order again" selection on Amazon. One would think that, inasmuch as I ordered the new sets within days and used the "order again" option that what I received later would be the same as what I received earlier. Not so. The connection patterns are different on the two newer sets and are incompatible even though they are in the exact same packaging and have the exact same product description. Now, the whole set is worthless.
