Monitor Audio's elegant floor-standing Silver RX6 design places the new wider bandwidth RX tweeter in concert with freshly designed 6 C-CAM bass and 6 C-CAM mid-bass drivers to form a balanced two-and-a-half way system. Separate chambers are used within the enclosure to provide differential tuning for the 6 drivers, producing higher efficiency and exceptional low frequency extension. For such a slim, easy-to-position speaker, the innovative RX6 produces an extraordinarily wide bandwidth, enhanced with a natural tonality that breathes life into every format even HD audio. An adjustable base plinth is supplied for added stability. By refining its computer-aided Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Monitor Audio has developed new ways to shape its core driver material for even greater fidelity. C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminum/Magnesium) is very light and very strong, and so is ideal for the driver cones. Monitor Audio's C-CAM gold dome tweeter now extends high frequency performance to beyond 35

Refined, Natural sound, Superb Bargain
I have owned the Monitor Audio Silver RX6 (in Walnut finish) in addition to the RX Center for about a year now and use them for multi-channel and stereo use via my Marantz AV receiver; I am still as happy as ever with them. Stateside, the Monitor Audio name doesn't seem to carry the recognition of other big UK speaker manufacturers like B&W or KEF. While I find that a bit odd, I suppose it makes Monitor Audio able to offer a quality product at a lower price than more well-known manufacturers. Monitor Audio's bread and butter has been their use and refinement of metals in driver design, such as their famous Gold-Dome tweeters, seen in the RX range as a gold-anodized ceramic-coated aluminum/magnesium alloy called C-CAM.Sound quality is quite a big step-up compared to my previous speakers -- a stand-mounted pair of B&W 685, superb speakers in their own right -- in terms of cohesive representation throughout the range, specifically tweeter integration. Treble sounds very smooth and natural (especially for a metal dome), and never harsh or a bit disjointed as I found on my previous B&Ws. Midrange is rich and natural sounding -- these especially excel with lush female vocals and rock and metal guitar. The bass performance is pretty impressive for such a compact floorstander; they lack the ability to reach the lowest depths of truly visceral bass, but if you're using these in a strictly music-based/2-channel setup, you'd probably be able to get by without using a subwoofer. If I had to describe the Monitor Audio RX6's sound, I'd say it's an overall well-balanced speaker that excels at all types of music and film content. The Mid and upper ranges are presented slightly forward but I would never describe them as harsh or bright. I can listen to them for hours without fatigue, but if you're looking for a particularly warm or "dark" speaker, these are not it. For bass, proper placement is key for the best performance. I compared these against speakers like the B&W 684 ($1,100/pr.) 683 ($1,500/pr.) and CM9 ($3,000/pr.), as well Monitor Audio's own RX8 ($1,750/pr.). The RX6 are the second least-expensive among the group at approx. $1,250 for a pair. Compared to the 600 series B&W speakers, the RX6 were able to eke out more detail than either one, with a more cohesive presentation with smoother treble. The RX6 had more bass than both, but it sounded more controlled than either one. I found the 684 to be particularly bloated. The CM9 clearly did some things better than the RX6, namely the soundstage being much bigger and a more detailed, nuanced, and refined sound across the range. For whatever reason, though, I preferred the smoothness and softer quality of the RX6 over the hyper-detailed and slightly more "in-your-face" sound of the CM9. The RX8 sounds largely the same as the RX6 but with more bass, which to my ears sounded a bit flabby and bloated. All in all, the RX6 are in my home today and provide an excellent value at the given price point. To be honest, they look, feel, and sound more like a pair of speakers that should cost $2,500+. The real wood veneer is beautiful; these are constructed like real, quality pieces of furniture. I receive compliments from almost everyone who sees them! Excellent attention to detail, from the gold tweeter and precisely dimpled drivers, to the quality binding posts and weighty cabinet. Would recommend to any audio enthusiast on a semi-tight budget.

The best mid priced floor standing speaker in its category. Period!
Awesome review, had these for 2 summers now in a HT cum 2 channel setup. Awesome speakers abd for the sale price of $800 a pair I picked on slightly used and well cared for ones, these are unbeatable. Compared these with ML40s which I liked, B&W 683s ( not my taste) and CM10s ( good again). However the ML and B&Ws were twice or more close to $2000. RX6 is better balanced than the other two by a slight margin. Stereo imaging is sharp and precise with an unwavering ghost center channel effect while still maintaining an amazing stereo separation. Will have these for a long time to come.

Great natural sound
These floor standing speakers are very well balanced and have a woodwind instrument sound signature. The bass is full and beautifully reproduces the deep organ notes but does not over power the mids and highs. I have really enjoyed these speakers which have a fantastic wood finish ( I have the cherry finish) quality build.
