This printer absolutely destroys all consumer level all in one inkjet printers. No comparison.
I have had this printer for over six months now.... this is my first laser printer. Prior to this, I was using various high end consumer all in one inkjet printers. I decided to switch to laser after dealing with clogged ink that always saw the nozzles needing to be cleaned, always running out of ink, etc. I will never go back to inkjet printers. The toner lasts a very long time. By far, substantially more than inkjet ink. There is no comparison. Yes, the toner is more expensive, but it lasts 10-20 times longer.I have not had any problems with this printer what-so-ever. It performs flawlessly. The *only* weakness it has in comparison to a high end photo inkjet printer is that it can't quite compete on that level of photo quality. (Still, using the right paper and a high resolution photo, the photo prints come out really nicely... definitely on the high end of laser color printers. If I had to compare it to a high end consumer inkjet photo printer that scored a 10, this would score an 8 in comparison)As far as the noise, yes, it is louder than an inkjet. People are blowing this out of proportion, however. If you've ever used a laser printer at work, the noise is comparable to your typical laser printer in the office. There *are* weird bangs and clank sounds, however, these seem to be isolated and only seem to occur mostly when new toner is added. I'm sure that these are by design, as I have had the printer for over six months and it works flawlessly. The scanner is also pretty nice. Not as good as a separate flatbed scanner, but it is typical for all in one printer scanners. As far as the software for the printer... This printer is obviously geared a little more for the corporate world than consumers. (i.e. people with a dedicated IT department) The software isn't as user friendly (particularly during installation) as a typical consumer printer. If I had to rate the tech knowledge needed to install the printer and software from 1-10 (with 1 being a completely new computer user to 10 being an elite IT pro of the highest order), I would say you need to be a 3 with at least some basic small office/home office networking knowledge if you are going to network it. If you are going to firmware update this thing, that tech knowledge is going to need to go up to a 5. (most consumers have no need to do a firmware update, but, just FYI, you'll have to go through a web portal using the printers IP address to do this... no automated software that will do it all for you)Overall very satisfied with this printer. I doubt I will ever go back to inkjet, and probably will keep this printer for several years.

This printer is terrible!
I've heard good things about this printer. Amazon had the best price. It was easy to set-up and I'm happy with the print quality. It is heavy and bulky but it's still the smallest laser printer that I've seen. The cost per page is low even with color and it seems to print quickly. I am seeing lots of reviews here about a loud grinding noise. I experienced that as well at first. But, that's because I did the typical guy thing and skipped the directions, since I've been messing with these types of printers for years. It's intuitive how the set-up goes. The grinding noise people are experiencing is because they (as I did at first) left the red protective tabs on the toner cartridges. They shipped the printer with the cartridges installed so, they put the tabs in place so that the drum wouldn't move during shipment. If you leave the tabs in place, it doesn't harm your printer, but it does make a noise that is similar to a weed whacker. Just take the red tabs off before you turn the printer on, just like the directions said. So many people are throwing this printer under the bus because of the grinding sound, when it's really just operator error. Of course with any product you are going to have anomalies, like the guy that had tech support send parts and a guy to his house to fix it. 10% of everything is bad, it happens. My recommendation is to take it back if you determine it's not user error and just buy a new one. What are the odds that one is bad too? Slim to none.Update 7/6/17: I hate this printer! It lets me down a lot. I am tired of wasting time trying to make it work. After several weeks of not using the scanner, I recently tried to jump on this and scan something important and I kept getting an error. The problem is that it isn't just confined to today. This happens quite often. I was at it 20 minutes this morning and an hour tonight. Don't buy this. It is not worth the headache. Tech support is no help either. Of course I tried rebooting it. Yes, I rebooted the computer and the internet. Some freaking mad!Update 2/5/18: Samsung has now switched their support over to HP. I called HP and they were unhelpful and gave up. They told me to go to a forum and see if someone else can help me. Every once in a while, the scanner acts up. This is unacceptable, as I need a scanner!

Works great! Physical setup was pretty easy
Works great!Physical setup was pretty easy. Samsung did a good job labeling everything. Just, be sure you've located and removed every piece of tape and shipping protection. The Samsung Cloud Print setup requires a Samsung account, so I haven't set that up yet. But, I found everything else easy enough to configure. For reference, the default web admin password for these is sec00000. This isn't listed in the quick setup guides, and I think it should be.Don't forget, if you want Scan-to-Email to work, you need to setup a default from address and have the server info for a valid email account the printer can use. A personal account is fine. Just, don't forget to update the printer's settings if you ever change the password.I've been a fan of Samsung printers for a while now. I think they're currently better than HP, who used to be my preferred vendor. Since these are office printers, not consumer, I've not run into any long term support on these, which is a failing Samsung has with some of their consumer electronics.A little advice from having setup several of these now, be sure to configure the administrative account fully and don't loose the password. Samsung is not very forthcoming with the information to do a master reset if you forget the password or something goes haywire. After some digging, I found info from Samsung's technician's manual about doing a full factory reset (not just the defaults reset, which does not reset certain critical network and admin settings).
