The thunderbolt connection is a fantastic and to have a partition for sharing with PC's ...
Absolutely fabulous for working with programmes such as Final Cut Pro X. The thunderbolt connection is a fantastic and to have a partition for sharing with PC's and also the USB3 cable for alternative connection is superb. It will be used as a working drive and not mainly for storage. Regular hard drives will be used for storing finished projects. I just hope that the integrated thunderbolt lead will stand up to regular connecting and disconnecting as I jump between MiniMac and MacAir.

seems genuine
Sturdy, quiet, seems just like my other LaCie drives. Not very fast but you would need an SSD for speed.

Has completely rejuvenated my mid-2011 iMac - it's like having a new computer
This device has completely rejuvenated my mid-2011 iMac. Having installed the operating system onto the SSD, the iMac boots in about 40 seconds, compared to about 4 minutes when it was running off the internal hard drive. It's like having a new computer, and the applications open almost instantaneously too. The spinning beachball, indicating a hanging program, is now a thing of the past. I cannot recommend this SSD enough for this reason. (But it must be pointed out that it won't do the same for every machine - only if the computer has a Thunderbolt connection.)For anyone wanting to do the same as me, I recommend the Twelve South BackPack for iMac (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00C1C1WU2/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_4), which, though rather expensive, provides a very neat solution for stowing the SSD. I use my iMac as a TV quite a lot, and need to spin it round by 45 degrees or so, and with the shelf, the SSD goes too.

This memory drive is driving me up the wall. ...
This memory drive is driving me up the wall. It is refusing to show up when connected to my laptop (Mac). It is compatible with it, and has shown up before. It is impossible and unreliable to work with. Out of all the times I have connected it, it has shown up 20% of the time. The LaCie support around it has been non-existent. Online if you google the problem a million other people have found the same thing, but with no clear resolution. Nightmare!

Good solution if you need a Firewire 800 connection (e.g. for older i-Macs)
Works fine and appears robust so far. Connected to my 2009 i-Mac via the Firewire 800 port and backing up happily via Time Machine. Bought it to replace my ageing Apple Timecapsule which suddenly refused to connect. The LaCie was a much cheaper option than another Timecapsule (I no longer needed the wifi functionality), but because I wanted a Firewire800 connection for speedier backups (No USB3 on my older iMac), I was limited on which portable hard-drives were available ... USB3 only drives are cheaper! I would have given this 5 stars if it were £10 cheaper.

Reliable Backup Tool
I'm using this in Firewire 800 mode to back my "Aperture 3" photo editing software library.Runs at expected speeds with no problems, and the build quality is up to the usual LaCie high standard.I have another one of these which I use to back up my iMac with "Time Machine". This one is larger (1TB) and uses a Thunderbolt connection - brilliant.
