Olympus Pen VF-3 Electronic View Finder - Silver

Purchased the VF-3 for my PEN-PM2. Great EVF from Olympus, high resolution, and great for sunny day. Good price from J-made of Japan. Great seller.

I generally prefer a viewfinder to an LCD screen, particularly when taking photos outdoors when reflections on the LCD become an issue. This viewfinder works well with my Olympus Pen E-PL6. It is not as bright or as good an image as I get using another EVF I have for a Panasonic camera. In retrospect, I might have been more satisfied with the VF-4 viewfinder although at a much higher cost. However, this is compact, it stays on the camera and basically does what I wanted.

This is a good enough view finder for the price. I bought this to use on an Olympus Pen E-PL2 camera, which I use as a compact "walking-around" camera when I don't want to carry my larger, heavier Nikon. My wife has the VF-2 viewfinder on her E-PL2. I spend a lot of time doing maintenance work on conservation land, so the small Olympus camera and this VF-3 view finder make a good combination so I can have a decent camera with me even when I'm often carrying or using other tools and equipment. The advantage of the VF-3 over the VF-2 for my purpose is that it has a locking mechanism that keeps it firmly attached to the camera's shoe clip. By contrast, the VF-2 view finder does not lock into the camera's accessory shoe and can easily slide out and be lost. I did actually lose the VF-2 from my wife's camera in fairly overgrown brush land. Fortunately after an hour or so of retracing my steps and searching on my hands and knees I found it. I subsequently attached the VF-2 to my wife's camera with a small lanyard as a workaround solution for a badly-designed attachment mechanism.The downside of the VF-3 is that the optical resolution and color resolution aren't nearly as good compared to the VF-2. The VF-3 is good enough to frame a shot, but it's difficult to see detail. I find it better than having no viewfinder -- I've used viewfinder cameras all my life -- but a better solution for me would be a VF-2 with a locking mechanism to secure it to the camera.

This thing is fantastic! It turns the Olympus EPM-1 from an "only can use the screen in shade or indoors" camera to a "use anywhere" camera. Resolution is excellent in any light, dim or bright. The 90 degree viewing option is something every camera should have.

Really exceptional in all ways, as far as I'm concerned. When compared to the blurry dim images in my Canon SX series of big zoom cameras, this EVF is like having had successful cataract surgery!...more than 10 times the pixel count than the Canons...brilliant in all meanings of the word. Costs about $140 and worth every penny. If you prefer viewfinders to LCD screens, get an Olympus that takes this viewfinder!

Image quality is not as good as touchscreen on my ePM2, but it's good enough for composing shots which is what it's for. It's perfect for outdoors in sunlight and being able to tilt it makes getting low angle shots easier.

Just what I wanted for my Olympus XZ-1 as I found long-sightedness made it difficult for me to focus using the LCD screen. With EVF, I can focus properly and shoot better looking pictures. The EVF is bright and clear although the color representation is a bit lighter than I would have preferred. In any case, this should be standard equipment for cameras, especially for us older folks with not-so-good eyes.

Cet article est en train de disparaitre de tous les magasins de photo, pour la simple raison que les nouveaux modèles intègrent le viseur de base. Donc si vous voulez vraiment un viseur, ne tardez pas!En plus c'est très rare d'occasion ce genre de produit.

オリンパスペンepl3にて使用。背面液晶だけだと日光の反射で見づらいのでこのファインダーを購入しました。視認性は良いです。軽くて装着しても負担を感じません。まだまだ使えそうです。

I am pleased with this purchase. The Viewfinder works exactly like the reviews and item details state. It is exclusively used for my telephoto lens for more precise focusing.It took a long time to deliver, but not worries, since it arrived roughly when stated it would. Better price than anywhere local that I could source the product.Overall, I am very pleased.

Ante todo considero que una cámara sin visor es menos cámara. Essential viewer for Pen E PL5, works just fine. None of the PEN cameras at the time of writing this review, have auto-eye recognition, so they still need to be manually turned on or off as needs. Deep in the camera menus is the option to set the brightness levels for the viewer display and there is an adjustment wheel on the side to adjust for eyesight correction. However, the VF-4 electronic viewfinder is better, pay out extra dosh for the VF-4 it really is worth it; the display is bigger, brighter and more high res, there is a huge difference between the two viewers. Returning to the VF-3 after using the VF-4 you will think the glass is smudged and needs cleaning, yes the VF-4 is a significant upgrade worth paying a bit more for. I have sold this VF-3 and used the money towards an upgrade for the VF-4.
