Continuos filtration. Ozone when you need it.
We bought this unit to help with the smoke smell in our living room, which has a large fireplace. The room is 24' x 26', so I was concerned it might not do the job. I unpacked the unit, put in both ozone plates, and turned it on with ozone set to the lowest setting. Within 15 minutes, the entire room was fresh and clean smelling. Within an hour the entire house was great. (We did use a box fan to move the air around.)I have an Alpine Air unit that always produces too much Ozone, which will mess with your lungs big time. The Mammoth Classic can also pump out a lot of ozone - when you want it to. Put a timer on this unit and crank that Ozone all the way up when you leave. It will flood the house with with cleansing ozone but you will want to wait about an hour after it shuts off to come back into the house. The Mammoth Classic is fairly small (about 8" x 8" x 12") and is VERY well-made with a nice Cherry box. I love this unit!

It works!
I was so happy to find this item! I had one years ago that was made by Alpine. It was very expensive - I seem to recall paying around $600 for it. Mine worked well for a few years and broke and I didn't want to spend another $600 bucks to replace it. As an aside, my veterinarian has had the same one for almost 10 years and it's still going strong.I have been involved in organized animal rescue (www.aforeverhome.org) since 1993. There are always dogs in and out of my house, and I'll admit it - sometimes my house smells like dog. I know that I get immune to it so I always ask guests how much it smells like dog on a scale from 1-10.I've been using incense and tart warmers to try to cover the dog smell but it's only covering it - not getting rid of it.This actually cleans the air. There was a comment in the instructions about not leaving the ozone on around pets for long periods of time, so I crank the ozone and the fan up to high when I go to bed (the dogs go with me). That way, I have the fresh scent of ozone in the bottom floor of the house when I come down in the morning. At that point I turn off the ozone and leave the blower on to work while I'm gone all day at work.I'm very happy with the performance of this unit. I just wish it came in different colors! If you have a vehicle that smells, you can shut all the windows and leave this running in the vehicle all night with the ozone cranked up to high. It will get rid of most odors overnight. You can actually feel the ozone when you open the car since it's such a confined space.I'm going to use it on the vehicle I use to transport dogs in to get rid of the doggy smell to see if it works as well as the Alpine did.For $149, grab one - I might get a second one.

I read the reviews before purchasing and felt confident that this was a good product and company
If I could give zero stars I would. I read the reviews before purchasing and felt confident that this was a good product and company. Received it promptly and packaged nicely. Took it out and turned it on. Nothing. Changed fuse. Still nothing. Opened it up and fan is not moving and a wire was hanging loose. Called Mammoth and the rep was short, rude, and basically not helpful. Unit is being returned to shipper for refund. I really want to believe this was just a fluke; however, there are many people on here who had exact same problem. Quality assurance in a company should never let this many units with defective fans go out. I'm wondering if a lot of these four and five star reviews have been planted. Note: two days after first review, I am editing my original review . Because of the extensive research I had done before picking an ionizer to buy, I opted to order a second one after returning the first one. I had to give this product another chance because my findings in researching the best one to buy was so extensive. So far, it is working great! It really does look and feel like a quality product. Keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't let me down.

Ozone works for eliminating mystery smells.
I know there is debate about the efficacy of these Ozone machines, but they have worked for me twice now. The first was in a rental property that had a weird smell that would come and go. The property is a condo with adjacent units so I could never find a source. Finally I tried this machine and it worked. I left the machine running (property un-occupied) for 2 two hour sessions. The smell disappeared never to return. The second incident has been more of a challenge. We bought a fixer-upper house and started an extensive renovation on the main living space of the home. The home is a split level built on a steep hillside. There is a large "crawl" space behind the laundry room which has been blocked off due to the construction. There was a horrible dead rodent smell coming from the laundry room which is immediately adjacent to this crawl space. We thought for sure a rodent must have died in the walls but the smell never went away even after months. I tried products that were suppose to absorb those types of smells but the odor just kept coming back. After 5-6 ozone sessions over the last month or so the smell is gone! Either the Ozone killed the smell or chased out a nest of rodents, either way I am happy!
