Outstanding Great Looking Fan!
If I could have given 10 stars I would!I have 4 Soleus fans, plastic ones, varying from 4 to 7 years old and all going strong. When summer season approaches I take them apart and clean out all dust. Not that much work just have to unscrew the front plate and that's it. I'm one of those people that buys something, is proud that she made the right choice and want them to work as long as possible so I clean them. After all you do maintenance on your car and house as well right? We have an RV and I was constantly carrying fans back and forth and decided I wanted a new one for my bedroom at home so i could leave the fans in the RV. I use fans all year round even though we live in the Pacific NorthWest. :-) I wanted a sturdy oscillating table fan, my other Soleus fans are different models. When I came across this metal one I was hooked but the negative comments threw me off. I decided to take the chance and proof the negative comments wrong, I love this brand and I was convinced this model would preform just as good as the ones I already own. I wasn't dissappointed. My husband unpacked it not knowing what it was and first thing he said 'wow this is awesome, what a great quality'!. And it is. It's sturdy, nice, not too shiny metal, the oscillating feature has a good swipe and just on the lowest speed it provides a wonderful breeze. I did try out the other speeds but they were too much for me and not needed yet.All parts seemed to be made of high quality steel and I love the easy large dial knobs on the top. No need to fumble somewhere at the bottom.I couldn't be happier with my purchase and am glad I took the risk of ordering it despite the negative comments. This fan will look good anywhere not just in a bedroom, its nice smooth retro styling will be an asset to any interior.Highly recommend this wonderful table fan!

Doesn't work right out of the box!
I got this fan half an hour ago. I spent about 5 minutes putting it together. It is heavy and substantial and looks great. Too bad it doesn't work.I hear a quiet hum from the motor, but the blade doesn't turn. I called warranty service and was told to return it. Freight and insurance is my problem to take care of. I've already spent $48 with more to come and have nothing to show for it. I will not be buying any more products form this manufacturer.

annoying to put together
once I got the darn thing together it works well. there was a dent in the base which I found pretty annoying for 50$ but the air movement is good and it is quiet.

Great look
I like the fan and the look of it and it is powerful. The one drawback is that it is very noisy.

Weak Blades
Update after about a year :Great looking fan with a quiet motor BUT I recently knocked it off of a side table by accident and the blades warped. When I turned it back on it wobbled big time. The blades are very weak, and if it gets warped it's impossible to get it back to normal and the fan is useless.Bye bye fan.

This is a beautiful, well made fan
This is a beautiful, well made fan. You have to put some parts together, but I did it in about 5 minutes. It works really well and is not too loud. The finish on it is better than it looks in the picture, is kind of a darker steel chrome look to it. Goes perfectly in my bedroom.

Buy the similar Hunter version instead.
I purchased two of the Hunter brand versions of this fan first, and was very happy with their design and quality. i wanted to buy another, but the cost plus shipping had gone up by about $20, so I thought I would try this cheaper brand. I am keeping this fan because it is fine, but I like the Hunter brand much better. The Hunter comes assembled, you have to assemble this one. The quality of the Hunter metal is slightly better- heavier, thicker wire. The speed control for the Hunter is on the base and is more intuitive, the control for this one is behind the fan head and has cheap plastic labels (which I removed easily). My major complaint about this fan is that the cord sticks out from the back of the moving fan, not the base, and the swivel arm is exposed in the back. The swivel is enclosed on the Hunter, and the cord comes from the base. Thus, the Hunter seems more stable (less likely to be a tripping/snagging hazard) and is definitely more aesthetically pleasing.
