I liked it better and noted down the number
I've had the opportunity to use a number of different booms in studios. When I worked with this one, I liked it better and noted down the number, eventually buying one for myself.I like it because all the adjustments work easily and they feel secure. Some booms bow too easily under the weight of strobes and modifiers, some joints don't tighten securely, some require you to muscle them down, etc.If this is your first boom, a few things you should know:1. Use a counter weight (this boom has a hook on the end or you can attach a weight to the bar) to balance the load on the other end.2. Everything is locked when adding weights or lights.3. Use a strong enough stand. C-Stands or similar. Putting this on a light weight stand is not a good idea.4. Put appropriate weight on the base of the stand (usually sandbags).5. The arm should extend over a leg.6. Make sure the light is secure.7. Beware of wind and inattentive people who might knock it down.Booms are fantastic. They also need to be used with safety in mind.

Solid construction and great reach
I run a studio co-op with multiple photographers, so we have a variety of gear options we share in the studio pace. This boom is one of my favorite accessories to position lights just in that right place. Though this is a "mini" boom it has good reach for both overhead and front positioning. I always throw a counter weight on the back, so I'm never afraid to put even the largest modifiers we have over a subject, whether product or person. Very little flex even with a heavier modifier. Works interchangeably with all of the c-stands we own, regardless of brand.I've recommended this product to many photographer friends, and everyone that buys is pleased with the quality and functionality of this boom.

Love it, but get an avenger stand, too
Great design. Holds well. Heavy and solid. Love it. Fiddly for getting the light in the right place, but I'm thinking that problem will exist with this TYPE of stand, no matter the brand. I've been mounting it on my Giottos LC325 10.7' 4-Section Air-cushioned Light Stand stands, but I've now over-stressed 2 of them, so I'm getting an Avenger A2033FCB Steel 40-Inch C-Stand 33 with 2 Risers (Black) .

Great Little Boom
I echo the other reviewers in saying this boom is well built, nicely finished and, yes, just a tad on the heavy side -- no problem if one has a decent, stable stand. (I happen to have mine mounted on an old Focal 20-08-87 camera tripod.) I've been using it with one of my (7.5 lbs.) Calumet/Bowens Travelite 750s and have had no problems whatsoever.

Best extender for both studio and speed lights.
I use this mainly as a hair light for my Paul C Buff Einsteins. Fully extended I need about 3 to 4 bags to counter balance the light. This means having a solid stand is critical. If I was using a speedlight I could obviously get away with less bags and a lighter stand.

Strong and adjustable
I chose this boom over a couple of the Manfrotto booms as this one is infinitely adjustable in length as the inner rod slides into the outer rod. I believe that on some of the Manfrotto booms you need to add or remove an entire section to shorten or lengthen. Therefore this boom is more adaptable to my needs. It is not lightweight aluminum.

Make sure you mount this on a solid stand!
Solid, but just a bit heavy...make sure you mount this of a VERY solid stand - then it works Great...if you put it on a lighter stand it will be quite "tippy."

Very solidly built. This is heavier duty (and heavier) than any of my lightstands. It works well and as advertised. This will last a long time.

やはりプロ仕様ですね。
重い。鉄の棒です。3.8kgあります。決して"ミニ"ではありません。アマチュアカメラマンには"ヘビー"な代物だと思います。
