IncipioDualPro Case for LG G2 (Verizon) - Carrying Case - Retail Packaging - Cherry Blossom Pink/Gray

I was hoping to get a case that was as thin as possible while offering protection on all sides of the phone. My last phone, a Galaxy SII, was dropped numerous times, and simply popped open spewing its battery and rear cover all over the ground. While it lasted a good while, I felt like casing my new LG G2 was a better way to go. I usually carry the phone in a belt clip case and was also looking at cases which come with the mechanism, like the otterbox defender.**Other case considerations**I visited the Verizon store and spent some time looking at cases, and had the salesperson setup a Qi charger so I could see if it worked through the cases they carried. The Incipio feather case snapped on nicely, slipped into my jean pocket well, but didn't seem to have protection on the top and bottom. The Otterbox defender seemed like it would offer nice protection, but had quite the hefty size, and I didn't feel like I needed a front protector built into the case, since I like the screen protectors such as skinomi. The OEM Verizon belt clip case seemed ok, was like the feather but added in the holster case for the belt. I really wanted to try a Diztronic, Tudia and the Ballistic case here on Amazon but couldn't find a local retailer in Hawaii that had them in stock for this phone.**Impressions**When this case arrived, I figured it would have a nice level of normal drop protection by having the harder plastic transfer the energy more evenly to the softer skin and no stress one point on the phone too much. I removed the silicone from the hard "Plextonium" layer and wrapped the silicone around the phone. The hard layer went on well for a nice snug fit. the holes have all seemed to line up. Some people mention a rear notification light being covered, but I haven't found a rear notification light for my VZW LG G2. I have the black/black case and it is kind of a two tone black/black.**Review**The best thing about the case is the Plextonium has such a nice feel. The product description states "soft touch exterior" and I have to agree. It is smooth, firm, has a slight friction on fabrics (not as much as silicone), and adds a nice amount of grip to the phone without adding fingerprints. The lip on the front of the phone doesn't seem to stop my fingers from using the edges of the screen, but adds adequate protection for normal drops. Although it adds friction, I can still get it in and out of my belt case well enough.The next best thing is that it really helps the rear buttons. The VZW G2 seems unusually hard to find the buttons on the back, worse than the model for other American carriers. With this case on, it adds firm confirmation of the power button, and provides a nice height difference between the up volume and the camera lens. I was unhappy with the amount of times I put fingerprints on the camera before the case arrived. I believe this experience is what LG engineers envisioned for the rear buttons, you can hold it portrait style and use your pointer finger to move the volume easily. Finding the power button was near impossible without looking at it when the phone is bare, so this case doesn't make me rely on knock on to wake up the phone (although I like the knock on).Construction is acceptable, I kind of feel like the price is way too high when you realize that it is a cheap piece of plastic and silicone, but the fit is what makes the difference. My case is snug, doesn't wiggle around at all, and it seems to have accounted for the difference in shapes between the other US variants and this Verizon model. It almost feels like part of the phone after using it for a few days, and is much better than the slippery little slab the phone was naked.**Final words**Even though I think it is a bit expensive, at over $20, I haven't found another case that fits the phone better with comfort, style, and adding a good layer for protection. Including all exterior dimensions it adds almost 50% of the thickness onto the phone, but it is worth it. Good thing the phone starts off slim because it is still manageable with the case on. I can still add and remove it from a jean pocket and if it falls out of the car onto concrete, I am confident the phone will be ok in this case and will check out Incipio for future phone case purchases. Great product.

Update #2...I contacted Incipio about the issue with discoloration and received a timely response indicating that there is no way to clean the hard case to remove the stains. Ultimately, they offered to replace the case which I appreciate. Given that my initial review was specifically for the white case, I don't feel as though a 5 star rating is still warranted. If I could review the white case separately, I'd probably give it 2 stars but, since I cannot, I have changed my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars.Update...I've only had my case for slightly more than 2 weeks now and the beautiful white color is no longer pristine with blotchy and discolored spots directly under the rear buttons and on the sides of the case where my fingers grip the phone. I have yet to discover how to remove these stains so I will be contacting the manufacturer to see if they have any suggestions. I will leave my original 5 star rating in tact for the time being but, based on their response and my ability to periodically clean the outer portion of the case, I may be revising it in the future.Original Review...The Incipio Dual Pro case is a very nice looking case with a nice soft touch finish and dual layer protection. While it may not protect your phone as well as an Otterbox, it's an excellent option for those who want better protection than the Verizon tpu case and has a stylish look. I would have preferred to have purchased the white G2 but, at the time that I purchased my phone, Verizon was only offering it in black but I love the two-tone (white and gray) look of the Dual Pro. The gray inside sleeve does pick up some pocket lint but, based on previous dual pro cases I've owned, this should get better with time. This case fits the Verizon version of the G2 perfectly with all ports/microphones accessible. The addition of the raised buttons for the rear volume rocker/power switch make them easier to find/push.

The case does the exact job it was meant to do. I've dropped my phone several times and not once has anything happened to it. I've often feared that perhaps the screen might crack if I drop it just right, but so far so good. I have a screen protector on which goes from edge to edge underneath the case itself so that may be why I've been lucky, but I'll take being lucky over the alternative any day. My one and only complaint about the cover and reason I did not give it 5 stars is the white part of the case gets dirty and is not able to be cleaned. The corners of the white cover turned a black-ish purple (I am assuming the cheap dye from the inside of my purse) just days after putting the cover on. Now the stains have faded to a weird orange-brown. It looks dirty and not good looking at all. So, other than the cosmetic looks of the case being tarnished, everything else does it's job the way it is supposed to.I do recommend this case if you are having trouble with the power and volume buttons. The design for these buttons is so unusual and they are hard to distinguish from each other by just touch. I was using the knock-knock feature of the phone where you just tap on the screen twice to wake it up because the buttons were too time consuming to distinguish. BUT, now with the case I can easy tell which is the volume and which is the power button. I use the button and knock feature equally now.The cover does not make the phone feel bulky in my hand and I am very pleased with my purchase. In hindsight, the only thing I would change is to get a darker color for the case.
