Good Outdoor cooking gloves
Purchased these to use outdoors while cooking with heavy-duty cast-iron pots and pans. Exactly what I needed. Grip and fit was great. I wouldn't cook with cast iron without these gloves. Highly recommend. Good price.

Love these very thick, convenient mitts!
I'm clumsy & have a tendency to burn potholders because they're too big to handle... I'm a small girl with small hands. I've also been burned slightly when they weren't thick enough to endure the heat of the pan's handle, especially when roasting in the oven. These work great if you have handles on pots/pans & can slip them over... like a pot cozy. :) The heat from the cooking surface does not transfer through at all & I use only cast iron pots/pans.The only warning I'd give is to be careful to not push the opening all the way to where the handle meets the pan, as the heat does destroy the material & both of mine are slightly frayed in that area. It's not a big deal. Handles are never as hot as the pan bed, over the direct flame, but these aren't meant to take that kind of heat.I love them & have had 1 for 5-yrs & another for 2. I toss them in the washer/dryer about every 4-6 wks, normally after something splatters. They appear as if they'll last 8-10-yrs each, I'm guessing. No real signs of wear & tear (aside from what I mentioned above)... most importantly, there are no signs of the material wearing through on the length of the mitt, which would allow heat through to the hand.Great product, useful at the BBQ grille & a must for campers, if cooking on a hot fire!

I guess it will wear out eventually, but when it does I'll buy another one.
I use this handle mitt several times a day and have yet to feel the heat of my skillets through it even when taking one of them out of a hot oven. I don't leave it on a handle. That just seems dumb to expose it to a near and ongoing flame. It slides right on and off my handles so it's easy to just set it next to the stove and grab it when needed.I've had it for a few months now and there's no noticeable wear on it yet. This is a replacement for the rubbery kind that is basically the same, but after having used this for a while I can say I think it much better and safer too. The rubbery kind pick up oil from the skillet handle and become slick inside. This kind does not.April 2016 update. I've ran this through the laundry a few times now, and am still using it every time I cook with a skillet or handled pot. It grips just as well as it ever did, and I've yet to burn my hand using it. I wish all products were this good.

Good product, but know its limits
I like this product, but people should be aware of its limits. I purchased both this handle mitt as well as the silicone one. I find the feel of this mitt better and use it almost exclusively. It is true what other people have said that the handle can still be hot, so don't assume that the mitt will allow you to hold the pan for any extended period after it has gotten hot. Because our cats don't take me seriously when I insist they stay off the counter, I don't leave the hot pan on the stove when I am done. I am easily able to take it off the stove and put it in the oven using the mitt. The other issue, also noted by others, is that it is important that the mitt not touch the edge of the pan. The edge appears to get a good deal hotter than the handle, so several times the mitt has started to singe when it has been allowed to rest against the edge of the skillet. It doesn't particularly bother me because I never leave the skillet unattended, and the aesthetic of the mitt isn't of much concern.

Lodge HHMT Max Temp Handle Mitt, Black
Wow, no more burned fingers! Just started using an old set of cast iron skillets and this handle mitt is a lifesaver. I highly recommend this to anyone that cooks with cast iron. No more fumbling with a hot pad or having to put on those heat gloves or forgetting the handle is hot! That hurt each time, ouch! Love this thing.I'm an old bachelor and it makes using the cast iron so easy, these are the only skillets I use now. By the way, once the pans are seasoned (did the lye bath-3 days then 5 hr seasoning). After four uses, my fried eggs slide out of the pans as well as with the best of a new teflon pans. But unlike Teflon, these skillets won't wear out after 3 or 4 months. BTW, I cook on a glass top stove top, till I drop a pan, then I'll switch to natural gas! Can't wait. Will be a little more troublesome to clean but so much better to cook on.This mitt makes my cast iron skillets so much easier to use...do your self a favor and get one. You'll love it!

Use it, don't leave it there.
When you're using this handy little handle mitt, use it for quick trips. For example, if you're gripping the handle of your skillet, slip the mitt over the handle, do your stirring, shaking of the skillet (good luck with that; cast iron weighs a tonne), or whatever, then remove the mitt again, and set it aside. Prolonged exposure to the heat of the skillet will (obviously) heat up the mitt, and make it useless. When you carry the skillet from the stove to the table, make sure to have another pot holder ready to hold the other side of the skillet, for safety's sake. Do not rely on the handle mitt alone, or you'll find out (as a certain unnamed dinner guest did, when they were trying to be "helpful") that a heavy skillet, and lots of food mean that the chance of dropping the whole kit and kaboodle on your foot increases exponentially with the speed at which you're going.
