8 years and going strong!
We bought our first Nalgene Grip n' Gulp for our toddler in the summer of 2010. It's still going strong 8 years later, as are the others we've accumulated over the years as we've added additional kids to our family. They have traveled everywhere we have, they have been through dishwashers and left in cars and rolled under beds to be forgotten for several months. They've fallen from bunk beds and the tops of cars (oops), they've been rolled in sand at the beach and left in a snowdrift outside. And the things just keep on going and never leak. We've replaced valves on occasion (inexpensive through Nalgene or Amazon), we've upgraded lids (my oldest was around 9 when she decided the sippy lid was too babyish, so we added Nalgene's "On the Fly" lid to our collection) and we've used the heck out of them. We've never had one crack, not the lid or the bottle. They snuggle into bed with the kids every night and have only leaked if we forgot to make sure the valve was completely seated. I can attach a carabiner into the lid and clip it to my kids' backpacks so that they're close at hand (because even in the 21st century school backpacks don't always have water bottle pockets). They are fantastically easy to clean. They don't gather funky tastes or odors. Somewhere along the way we acquired a Camelback kids' plastic water bottle. I was happy with how it cleaned, until I was putting the valve back on once and realized that part of the lid was hollow and was growing things inside. With the Nalgenes, there's nothing you can't see--every piece is solid. I've boiled a valve if it's looked a little brown after a bottle has been forgotten, and it cleans right up. Caveat: we've never allowed anything but water in them. I live in fear of finding random bottles with sour milk or fermented juice in them, so those things are consumed at the table in our house, and the water bottles are for everywhere else. There is nothing about these things I don't like. And did I mention that they never leak?Edit: it's 2023 and these things are still going strong. My own kids have outgrown them, so we handed them down to a friend, and they're still rolling right along, no leaks or anything.

Does not leak!
My 10 month old daughter was not sleeping through the night until we found the Nalgene Kids Grip N Gulp water bottle. She woke up every night at 4am or 5am until we gave her a few sips of water and then she would go back to sleep. I was hesitant to put a sippy cup in her crib because they leak everywhere but another mom mentioned this water bottle in a blog post so I decided to give it a shot. It took my daughter 1 days to learn to drink from it and now I leave it in her crib overnight so she can drink whenever she’s thirsty. Since the day we put this in her crib, I never had to intervene again. It saved my sleep and sanity.

Angry that we ever bought other "sippy cups"
My son got this as a gift when he was 2 years old. after a week or 2 of use, I told my wife we are throwing away all our old sippy cups and I purchased 4 more from Amazon because they are wonderful. I was so sick and tired of him tearing up every single sippy cup. he would bite and chew on them - if we were lucky they would last a month before the tip would tear, causing liquid to flow out freely when shook or dropped (also more likely to tear off and him swallow it). These Nalgene bottles WILL. NOT. TEAR. they are worth every penny. the tip is obviously comfortable enough for him to use, but it is hard. Not only does he have no chance of tearing this one up, but it immediately got him out of the habit of biting it (which i was starting to worry would mess up his teeth/bite). We've tried the kind with the straws too, but not only would he tear those up as well, but i hated that there would always be a significant amount of liquid left in the bottom that he could not get to. particularly annoying with milk.I see some other reviews that say these aren't good for 2 year-olds because the required suction is too much. i'm not sure about this - it seemed fine for my son who has just turned 2 at the time, and the suction does loosen up over time as the valves wear out. I guess I will let me daughter try it in a couple months after she turns 1 to see how young they can go. I've bought one set of replacement valves after about 4-5 months, i can't remember if its because they wore out or we lost a couple. but we regularly throw them in the dishwasher so this is to be expected.Lastly, and this may seem silly to some, but my son is a rather large child. at the age of 2 he looked more like a 4 year old. I was starting to feel like he looked kinda funny walking around with the handled sippy cups. These Nalgene bottles don't have that problem. They just look like kids water bottles, appropriate for whatever age (in terms of looks).update: my 15 month old daughter now uses these with no problem.

Holding up great to a teething toddler
I used Nalgene water bottles myself for years, but I tried other leak proof sippy cups and water bottles before buying this for my 18 month old son. I wish I hadn’t, this cup is great. It only has 3 pieces to clean that come apart easy and can’t hide mold. It only drips a tiny bit with he throws it, which is unavoidable. And best of all it’s holding up to his teething. He’s getting his last canine and chewed through several cups with silicone or rubbery parts, but this cup still looks almost new. Only drawback is it is pretty difficult to get the drink out, but that doesn’t stop him when he’s thirsty. Or you can just leave the valve off and it’s a regular sippy cup.Added 7/20/18 - my son just dropped the cup on the tile floor and it cracked pretty bad. We’d been using it for less than 2 months. I’m pretty upset because I loved the cup and was just about to buy a couple more. I contacted Nalgene and they will send a replacement, which is nice. I’m not sure if I’ll buy another or should switch brands now.

Not practical even adults struggle to use, let alone a 4 year old! 😲
Nice enough bottle but 4 year old just could not suck the water up with the plastic part, so had to take it off which made it to free flowing and could not use other than in house where bottle could be left upright as then leaked without the plastic part, kind of pointless really.
