Kimberley Jim [1965] [DVD] [NTSC]

Because of Jim Reeves' untimely death at 40 this is the only film he ever made, though I believe he wanted to do more. It was made in South Africa, where he was very popular and is a story about two card players at the time when diamonds were found in Kimberley. As a film it's not one of the best, but it's important because it was the only film Jim made and shows another side of his talent. It's relatively innocent compared to the films that are made today (it was made in 1963), but is an entertaining family film (kids over 12, I think), and a must have for Jim's fans. He sings several of his songs in the film and there are some special features included, as well as the story of how the film was made and the press it got. I found it interesting.

The star rating is for the film which is OK but nothing special other than being Jim's only film. The DVD is good value with both full-screen and widescreen versions available as well as song tracks - 16 in Afrikaans and 12 in English. The cardboard case also holds a 28 page illustrated booklet.All in all it is a nice offering.

I have wanted to see this film for some time and at last had the chance to buy it and think it is a good film

This Kimberley Jim soundtrack have great music. When you play the disc you just want to sing along with in. Plus the late Jim reeves also play good music and sing them.

Bought this for my dad for his birthday, as he's a big Jim Reeves fan. He loved it
