Love the Romance and Characters!
Jeaniene Frost writes some of the best paranormal romance that I have ever read, consequently her books are favorites for me. This series is a spin off from the Cat and Bones, Night Huntress books. It seems like forever that we have been waiting for this book, so I was more then happy when it was released recently.Leila and Vlad are a vampire couple that are trying to find Vlad's arch enemy, Szilagya. Since Leila can read essences on people's bodies that tell her who has touched them-ever, it's just one way they are trying to get information on his whereabouts. This involves her touching a lot of vampires to find traitors, not something that Vlad is happy about, to say the least. Pretty simple premise, right? Not even close.Vlad has the worse temperament of any main character that I have ever read. He's definitely not an easy character. He is, of course, the vampire that started the vampire legend from hundreds of years ago-Vlad the Impaler. So the reader should hate him? NO. His romance with Leila is one of my favorites that I have ever read. Watching the great Vlad succumb to Leila, and fall so hard for her, was the basis of a wonderful read in the first book, Once Burned. Leila was pretty much electrocuted when she was young, only she didn't die, but she did come away with an arm that is capable of killing with electricity. Needless to say, she doesn't date. With Vlad and the fire power in his body, she has found the perfect husband for herself, and now that she's a vampire, they have forever to spend together. But nothing in their life is easy. Szilagya has made it his mission to make their life hell. This book was really dark, and went places that might upset a squeamish reader. Not only is there a ton of violence, but most of it is in the form of torture. And torture is not something I am fond of reading about, to say the least. It's very telling that even after writing that, I can honestly say that I really enjoyed this read. If it hadn't been about Vlad and Leila, I might have put it down, but since it was, I was okay with it-not the torture aspects, but because I love the characters, and their romance. And also because of Ms. Frost's wonderful writing. As usual with this series, there is plenty of romance, adventure, and thriller aspects. Truthfully, I had a hard time putting it down at times. So it was a very quick read, one that I will have a hard time forgetting.I would recommend this to adult readers of paranormal romance, ones that don't mind violence in their read. Even if that does bother you, I still would suggest you try reading the first book, because of how good the romance is.(PureTextuality.com)4.5 stars!

Vlad is back!
Vlad aka Vlad the Impaler... yes the one and only and Lelia are back in a new story and let me tell you it definitely lived up to the expectations, at least my expectations. Oh holy sweetness!!!! Vlad became a secondary character in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress Series (if you haven't read that then I implore you very emphatically to begin, you will get much more from Vlad's series if you have read that first) but anyway that aside, Vlad quickly became not just a supporting and forgettable character but became so interesting that he warranted his own side trilogy (which as since been expanded to a fourth book OMG!!!!) and so began the Night Price series. This character true to his fictional persona became larger than life and what a character he is, formidable comes to mind.So here is what you can expect from the 3rd book in the series, Bound by Flames....everything! For real, it is a romance story but since it is a continuation of an already established relationship, it allows for the story between not only the couple but their whole world to go deeper. This is not a standalone novel, you must read the first two since this picks up and takes for granted that you are already up to speed on the story line and characters. There is no rehashing, very few explanations from the previous books, so you basically hit the ground running. The story opens and you dive right into their very exciting, dark, a bit disturbing (it is Vlad after-all and he does have a bit of a problem with violence) world. I was hooked from the start!! Burning questions are starting to be answered and some new threads have been exposed. And OMG the hilarity was off the charts. Ms. Frost's writing is top notch on this one. She excels at writing very descriptive scenes but also for the witty banter between her characters. This story seems to raise the bar from previous novels and at the same time really humanized the characters. It was a really fun read and now I am super excited for the 4th, even though I know it will be the end. :( I survived, albeit will much sadness at the conclusion of the Night Huntress Series, so I guess I'll make it again. This book was great! I would give it 4 1/2 stars. Why not 5?? Well I am still pouting about Cat and Bones' story ending.... I wanted them in this book too. Have no fear though... I didn't really miss them (for shame!) until the story ended and I reflected back. This book was that good!Happy Reading!
