Makes one HUGE salad to go!!
This will pack a huge salad. I read through the reviews before purchasing and saw some say how it wasn't enough. Most other customers didn't agree so I took a chance. O M G....how big a salad is it they want?? There's enough room for a HUGE salad and plenty of room left over for all those tomatoes and things others have gripped about not fitting in the frozen compartment ring. Personally I put my salad together with the exception of croutons, cheese, eggs or things that get soggy easy. Tomatoes, cucumbers and most veggies can be placed on the greens in the bowl directly as they don't tend to lose their flavor or consistency. I have a bottle of dressing I keep at work in the fridge so I don't need the dressing container for that. I do sometimes use it for veggie dip and will add extra veggies to my greens then pick them out when it's time to eat. Nice place to store them for later. I've also done the half and half thing in the bottom. Put my lettuce on one side and loaded up the other with peppers, broccoli and carrots. It works as long as you don't shake it around much. I still use the freezer compartment for smaller things like sesame seeds, croutons, cheese and things like that.

Excellent kit!
Love love love this salad kit! It fits perfectly into my Vera Bradley lunch bunch with room to spare. I couldn't wait to try it out and I have to be honest, I was a little skeptical about how cold it would actually keep my greens and veggies. Well after sitting in my lunch bag for a little over 5 hours I was very pleased with how cold this bowl kept everything. I actually think my greens were cooler in this bowl than they are in my fridge! I put some croutons in one of the compartments and they didn't get soggy or moist at all. My dressing didn't leak out and the dressing container has two labels, one for 3 tablespoons and one for 6 tablespoons so you can determine exactly how much dressing you want to bring. I'd say it holds 7-8 tablespoons of dressing if filled to the absolute top. Other reviewers mentioned that the center part was difficult to remove but I think they have slightly redesigned this product to fix that issue (the top of mine says coolgear, not the stay fit ez-freeze shown in the image above. The kit looks the same, just has a different label). I had no trouble lifting the center part out of the bowl. Cleaning is a breeze and it fits the perfect amount for a lunch or even dinner salad. Overall I'm very pleased!

Salad Container
Just one more way to pack a salad lunch. Let us be honest and be clear that you do not need anything fancy to tote your salad around. Most plastic containers with a tight lid works just fine. The beauty of this product, and its selling point, is that it allows you to carry your salad, the dressing, and three toppings all in one tidy container. Basically you avoid having to carry several separate containers. Another feature is that the middle tray can be cooled prior to packing your salad. That will help keep the contents of the container cold. There is also a small leak-proof container for your dressing. Overkill? Maybe. But it is hard to deny the convenience. The plastics used in the product are a bit light, especially the locking clips. It is BPA free. The freezable inner tray is the heaviest part of the product. I suspect it is filled with gel. The manufacturer warns you not to put any of the parts in the microwave. This product was meant to be used with cold foods only. Do not use it for hot foods. This is a large bowl. It was meant to carry a salad big enough for a meal. It's not for a side-salad. The literature says the bowl will hold 6 cups, but that is total capacity. With the tray in place, the actual capacity is cut in half. So, perhaps the practical capacity is 3 to 4 cups. Still big enough for a large Caesar salad. Let's just say that you will never convince anyone that you're on a hunger strike if they see you carrying this kit.Getting back to the locking clips. While the construction of the product appears to be sufficient for its intended use, the locking clips that hold the lid tight to the bowl are rather flimsy. Because of the design, these clips are necessary to secure the lid to the bowl. There are two clips, and you really need them both to secure the lid. So if one of them breaks off . . . . . . . . you will not be able to keep the lid securely attached to the bowl. If the locking clips had been made of sturdier material, it would have gotten a five-star rating from me. The clip is too important to make the product work. It deserved better construction. Actually, for the price of the product, the whole thing should have been made of thicker plastic. To put the price into perspective, for the same price as this, you could buy a Rubbermaid Lunch Blox Salad Kit. The Rubbermaid product is better built.Recommended, but be careful with the locking clips. Open them carefully to avoid tearing them off the lid.

Genius idea
This is one of those products that you think to yourself "why didn't I think of this?".I have been packaging my salad and salad ingredients separately for a long time because eating a sad, wet, soggy salad is no fun. This puts all of the extra Tupperware and baggies back in the cupboard and does all of that in one convenient container. The dressing cup is more than enough (maybe too much if you are watching your calories!) and the little sections of the top for veggies is good sized too.Little trick I learned: dump all of the veggies and the dressing in the white bowl. take out the middle ice pack and put the green lid back on and shake it up. Dressing gets mixed well and covers every bite! Yum!I haven't had to use the ice pack of this salad kit because I have a refrigerator at work but it doesn't seem to add too much weight to the bowl.
