I have a severely disabled child (well, he's 35) who is fed through a gastrostomy button surgically implanted in his stomach. He was diagnosed as a diabetic about 9 years ago and he was prescribed insulin injections. About a year later, we switched him to the Glucerna 1.5 cal nutrition and were able to reduce the amount of insulin he needs. He has also done very well with his weight. He was slightly overweight, but after switching him to Glucerna, we've managed to maintain a healthier weight for him. If you need to use a nutrition shake for any reason and your blood sugars spike, this or the Glucerna 1.2 cal is what you should try.

My father is recovering from oral surgery and unable to eat solid food - this supplement has helped him maintain his weight through chemo and radiation. I would recommend it to anyone who needs supplemental nutrition. If you are looking at this for that reason, I also recommend a thing called 'Benecalorie'. They are small unflavored gelatinous packs that provide extra calories and fat - and can be easily mixed into any food. I buy them by the case online from walgreens, it's the best value.

My husband was dx with stage 4 lung cancer in april 2014 since he has been on Glucerna drinks he has gained 10 lbs and has responded great to the chemo tx.He has more energy then he has ever had.He does rest twice a day.I wish our insurance would pay for this.Im going to save my receipts and try to claim on my medical exspenses at the end of the year.I would recommend these drinks to anyone who has a depleted immune system they have everything in them for a meal replacement or to add cal intake to your diet.

My advanced age Dad ended up falling and had to have peg in his side. This formula was used by hospital for extra nutrition and low sugar content. It's okay for awhile, better than other companies. Ideally, ingredients should be organic/pure with no fillers. However, no profit margin in pure. He has used the formula for two months and is getting his strength back. I would use a Vitamix if he ends long term on a peg and mix regular food into liquid. I don't believe any mixture in a can would be great for a long stretch of time. I gave the nutrition 4 stars because the ingredients include artificial vanilla and fillers.

Glucerna 1.5 is a supplement for a family member who eats only pureed food. It is tasty and healthy in that the product contains many vitamins and protein.
