While it is not an exact match for the original in my ASUS N53SV-B1, it is a perfect fit and I like it better. The original keyboard was bowed upwards slightly in the middle causing subtle flexing and I was constantly using canned air to blow crumbs and cat hair out from under sticking keys.This keyboard fits better than the original with no flex. Chicklet style keys set in a frame prevent debris from getting under the keys. There are also vivid blue function symbols on the function keys that really pop. With my farsightedness, I never knew what keys did what, but now I can clearly see them all.Due more to ASUS design than this particular keyboard, it took about two minutes to remove and replace, with the only tricky part being the retainer clip for the ribbon cable, that slides towards you to remove, and you need to slide it away from you to hold the cable in place. Also, take a look at the folds in the old ribbon cable, and make as close to identical folds in the new cable before inserting it, so it wont get randomly crushed when you snap the new keyboard in.

Installation is a simple matter of releasing the five tabs along the upper edge of the old keyboard, using either a medium blade jewelers' screwdriver, a penknife blade, or even a putty knife, pull off the connection jack, then align the bottom edge of the new keyboard with the slots, insert the connection jack, fold over the ribbon cable, and snap the tabs into place. Be sure to remove all power sources first, including the battery.Since I haven't had the replacement keyboard in use for sufficient time, I can't offer a 5-star rating.Note: there about 5 Chinese factories that manufacture this keyboard. You can get the original manufacturer, but you'll have to pay twice the price.

This product is internationally shipped from China, hence the long shipping time. However, I got mine in a little over a week and who can argue with this price anyways. It arrived in perfect condition and packaged in a compact fashion.The build quality and the chiclet island style buttons feel great. When i took my old keyboard out of my N53SN, i could feel the elastic flex, but this keyboard in contrast feels a lot more solid and barely flexes when typing. When typing this review, I feel that I can type words faster now and with less mistakes because the buttons are better positioned with adequate space in between. All the FN keys work as well.It feels like a cheap but huge upgrade, and I can honestly say I enjoy typing nonstop now on my laptop.

I bought the ASUS N538 last year about this time and loved the laptop, but hated the keyboard. All the keys were so close together I could not type, and I am an extremely fast typist. After looking over some reviews, I bought this, not even knowing if I could install it. Well, it arrived a few days later. I watched a video on You Tube about removing and installing ASUS keyboards, and I had it done in five minutes. Keyboard has enough space between the keys that I can now actually type accurately on it. Feels solid. Easy to install (and I am NOT NOT NOT a technically-inclined person!). Excellent purchase !

This is a suitable replacement keyboard. However, the back plate seems to be made of aluminum foil. The build quality is only barely acceptable, compared to the original item. I was sure I had been scammed.That being said, I am using it right now to type this review. Additionally, all the keys seem to work with good tactile feedback. No hiccups that I can claim.I've been using this keyboard for a week now, and all is good so far.So, scary cheap build quality... but suitable.

I purchased this product as a replacement for my stock N53SV laptop keyboard after my "w" broke (yes, I play FPS and MMORPGs). It took me about ten minutes to remove my existing and install this replacement, including the time to locate the "how to" on youtube. There are five "clips" that run along the top of the keyboard and a ribbon to slip into place and that's it!Simple, good product and I am satisfied for the price paid.

Just better in every way, chiclet style keyboards should just be the standard on all new laptops! If you have any laptops in these models I HIGHLY suggest you order this with the laptop! The one that came with my N53 broke a few months and was very straining and uncomfortable to type on!

My old (and original) keyboard was defect. Sometimes, the keys 'e','h','j' and others stopped working suddently. I was angry because I thought it was a hardware defect inside the Asus N53SV, but for my luck, it was only the keyboard. In 5 minutes I changed these keyboard to a new and worked perfectly.
