Very nice, but...
The JS1200 is a professional instrument for either professional players, or, like me, someone who likes to have the best of anything. The combination of the DiMarzio pickups (PAF Pro at the neck, and FRED at the bridge) works really well, and that, combined with the floating tremolo, means all the tools are at your fingertips. The FRED drives nicely, and the PAF Pro is fat. Included with it is a 3-way selector switch, to go from insane overdrive to fatness and everything in between at the flick of that switch.Ibanez have cut their teeth on creating instruments primarily for hard rock, which is good because hard rock is geared for the guitar, and this is no different. I would have two minor (major?) complaints about it, tho'. Firstly, it's a 22-fret instrument, while most of the Ibanez range (RG's, S-series) are 24-fret, meaning 2 octaves. This finishes at a high-D. I note the latest catalogue lists a JS2400 that is 24-fret, so they've obviously realized the necessity themselves.Further, and this is a purely personal reason, I prefer the jack to be on the top of the body a la Stratocasters. The jack on the JS goes in the bottom side of it, which, to me, is kinda annoying.Bottom line: I love my JS - it has all the tools I could hope for, but I would much prefer the 24 fret neck and the plug into the top of the body, which is why I will end up buying an S5470 Prestige one day!
