I could not be more pleased. The fit and finish exceed my expectations
Just got this. It arrived an hour ago. I could not be more pleased. The fit and finish exceed my expectations. I flexed the blade to check the temper, not bad! I owned a wakizashi blade when I was a child (50 years ago). It was brought home as a war trophy (it was the read deal with a hand engraved signature on the tang). So I know a little about what something like this should be. All I can say is, if this is the quality that a company like Musashi delivers for this price range, I am going to get another sword in the $200 - 300 dollar range from a known company like Musashi, Cheness, Paul Chen, ect.. As far as cutting with it, I have not tried it. The sword I owned when I was a child I broke the point off of so the extreme (other than green wood, mats, and green bamboo) cutting tests that some people do are really not appropriate for any sword. I looked at all the reviews before buying and wanted to see just what do you get for around $120.00 before spending more. NO! regrets. For the money all I can do is rave about it. It came with a musashi certificate stating the steel was 1060. I know a gentleman that has been in the steel business for over 40 years. He told me the steel produced in China was "spot on"; exactly what they say it is. I am glad I got this even if it fuels my desire for one of a higher price. The one I received looks exactly like the one displayed. Everything tight and well done. The hamon is present and is not brushed on, excellent. (period)

Be wary of Musashi/Musha brand crap.
Very cheap looking and feeling. Dull on delivery, not even a little sharp. The handle I am pretty sure is plastic, and the decorative piece under the shoestring wrap is definitely cheap, dull gold colored, glued on plastic. I was very disappointed. The cheap Musha sword seemed to be better quality for half the price. I ended up sending it back and and getting Ryumon RY-3051 for about $20 more and it was well worth the extra cash. Musashi/Musha is a real hit and miss as far as quality goes, but honestly if you want the real deal you aren't going to find it for a hundred bucks.

For the money it is a great sword. Wish it wasn't stamped "Made in China" on the brass guard. If they used an older looking type style it would look better. The type style does not go with the style of the sword. This stamp can probably be removed, but some metal will have to be removed to make it look right.

and packaged good in the shipping box
This is a solid sword. The tsuba and blade is snug. The sword came very sharp, oiled, and packaged good in the shipping box. I couldn't afford an authentic Japanese katana on my budget. This unit is comparable enough though. Thanks!

I don't know much about swords. However I like mine. It came nicely packaged and wrapped up very well. I also think mine is pretty sharp as is.
