Insect Protective Mesh Shirt

Effective, non-chemical mosquito barrier
This mesh shirt does an excellent job keeping off the mosquitoes. Since I started wearing it during the most mosquito-prone times of day (morning and evening), I haven't had to deal with any bites. I don't even flinch when I hear one buzz by my ear as long as I am wearing this.In the past, I had tried the types of mosquito mesh that cover your head only. They made me feel claustrophobic and suffocated, and of course offered no protection to your torso. I was worried that this shirt would make me feel the same way, since it also covers the head, but after getting through my initial reaction I am fine in this shirt. It turns out that in the head-only garbs I was actually getting anxious about the mosquitoes biting my back and arms. The only two drawbacks to this kind of protection are that it *does* cause you to retain a bit more heat, which can be an issue during the hottest hours of summer. So it is not something that I like to wear in the sun, especially not in the late morning or afternoon. The other drawback is that the mesh slightly reduces your visual acuity, which makes detailed tasks more challenging in low light conditions. However, since light can be added, and since flailing and mosquitoes also makes detailed tasks more challenging, I think that latter disadvantage is a wash. Two details of this product tell me that it is a work of high quality. One is the wide, comfortable elastic bands around the wrists and the waist, which keep these areas snug to prevent insects from getting in. It's a definite step up from the drawstring-style closures. The other is the zipper across the front at neck level to allow you to eat or drink without taking the whole shirt off. The zipper is wide enough to enable you to tip back the whole top like a hood if you want your head free, and the zipper is made by YKK, which is a manufacturer that I have found to make the most reliable zippers.I bought mesh pants by Coghlan to protect most of the lower half of my body, and now I am undistracted by those biting pests when I am out in the gardens in evening or morning. With gloves protecting your hands and a DEET or pyrethrin-based repellant on your socks, the ensemble makes one pretty fearless. Now all I have to worry about is chiggers (Trombiculidae).

Fantastic protection!!!
This is the third baffler item I’ve bought. They are very well made, true to size. Very easy to put on and adjust head covering. Very protective - even from smaller no see ums. I love this product. Worth the price!

It is like they can't see you
Oh thank goodness this works! I don't want to use DEET or any type of harsh chemical on my skin so this is the only thing that makes sense. I bought this one for me, and after trying it I ordered another for hubby. Had to go to their website because the choice in sizes right now is either the S/M (which states on the shirt only "S") or XL. He needs a large. I am 5'5" and he is 5"8" and we are both of average weight. He was able to put this size on and it would work in a pinch but he really needs a size large. What other reviewers have said about making you warmer is true. I am in Texas and even a few degrees more heat is not welcome, however it is more than worth it tradeoff for the mosquito protection. The net is exceedingly tight and seems durable. Overall it appears well made. I am sure it works for mosquitoes, and would have to work for ticks, not sure yet about chiggers which would be a super bonus!

FANTASTIC for hikes
Worked great for a very bug infested hike. Bought 5 for our bee friends too. They wear the Bug Baffler in the summer because the bee suits are stifling hot and these work great for them. No stings.

Does the trick
The fit is as it should: away from exposed parts of your body. If not, they can land on the mesh and bite. As with the other reviewers, it does get hot especially with the hood zipped. Only the smallest "no see-ems" will get through. Unless you're in a cloud of skeeters, the hood takes getting used to as it can be hard to see through clearly. Otherwise, for people like me who are bug bait, it does the job.

Nice product and much cooler than a bee jacket !
My wife bought this for me so I could try using it while I tend to my Honey Bees. I wasn't sure it would work very well for that purpose, but it does. I don't know what it is about it, but the bees won't hardly land on it. They keep their distance for the most part. I think I might need a larger size because the sides of the head screen are constantly touching my face and that's where I don't want to get stung..... So I'm thinking I might try a larger size. But it keeps me cool and feels better than a canvas jacket !

Basic gear for our Florida family
I bought our first bug baffler shirt several years ago for my son who is a Florida Park Ranger. He is allowed to wear it over his uniform and does rugged work. It has performed beautifully. This year I ordered 4 sets; a new one for my son, and pants and shirts for my daughter-in-law, my husband, and me. We all live on a river near the coast in the Florida Panhandle where we have constant bug issues. We love them! We fish, garden, canoe and "live" in them. We are walking advertisements for these products.
