The best shaver I've ever had, particularly for my sensitive skin
This shaver gives me the closest shave I have ever had. I have been buying electric shavers for over 30 years. I have very sensitive skin. With this shaver, I have yet to have one problem with skin sensitivity.

Cleaning station broke after just 4 months.
Bought this to replace my Braun because I wanted to try a different style. It does shave better, at least for me.The problem is the cleaning station broke after just 4 months. It just wouldn't clean anymore. I tried to clear out the nozzle and replaced the cartridge 3 times (quite a waste of money for the refills), but it still won't work. And, there is no replacement! I can't find where I can buy just the cleaning station. Even if I wanted to pay them money to avoid the hassle of having to contact their customer service to maybe get a replacement, I can't, unless I buy a whole new set.In contrast, my previous Braun shaver cleaning station worked flawlessly for 8 years. I just turned it on again and it still works.

PASS - Impressive design, complicated, not happy with the results (3 reasons here)
I thought I'd try switching from using a simple blade to see if this device was simpler or faster or better at cutting.1) This electric shaver, like all with round cutting surfaces, tears up the skin. You are roughing up your face from 360 degrees as you circle your beard to cut it. Anyone who understands shaving knows you should shave down against the beard. Rubbing in every direction just wrecks your face. I suspect it can also, at times, lead to ingrown hairs.2) It doesn't shave as close to the skin as a razor, at all. My beard was noticeable again, much sooner than with a razor. And I shave only once a day.3) The base it fits into is HUGE, takes up a lot of space. I'm not sure what the designers were thinking as shaver should just be plugged in to charge. However since they decide to build in a base of cleaning liquid, the device takes on inordinately large proportions.I use Schick double-edged blades, so I'm a minimalist with shaving. I don't do the razors with 5 blades and all that silly "advanced" shaving stuff that means they're really just advancing their hands deeper into your wallet.Maybe this switch was just too hard on my face and I wasn't willing to commit 3 weeks (recommended, but reads as a warning - to adjust to the shaver) in order to become a Norelco guy.Not happy with this at all.

Not Bad, But Not As Good As The Competition
I've used 3 shavors that are in the same price range. The Braun Series 7, the Norelco 1280X/47 SensoTouch, and this one (Norelco 7700).The 7700 is a good shaver. It gives you a comfortable shave that is relatively close, and it feels good. It charges pretty quickly. Like the other two, it has this elaborate system for cleaning your razor, which requires you to continually buy fluid from them. I have to admit, that it is pretty nice to have a clean razor with a nice scent when you do the cleaning.Still, I prefer the Braun, then the 1280X/47, followed by the 7700 when comparing the razors. Why? The Braun just gives a closer shave. I can do a shave quicker with the Braun. The two Norelco's are similar, and give a very similar shave, but the ergonomics of the "base" station on the 1280X/47 I like much much much better than the 7700. The 7700 base station really annoys me. It's really awkward to try to fit the razor into the base unit, such that I'm always accidentally hitting the "clean" function, or tripping the power supply or whatnot. And good luck getting the power plugged into the base unit without spilling half your cleaning fluid. Ergonomically, the 7700 is a big step backwards for some inexplicable reason. The 7700 overall is a nice shaver, but if you are going to spend that much money, you *can* get something better.

Very good shaver, easy on the skin--with small improvements needed
The Phillips Shaver 7700 is a lightweight razor with excellent features. The shaver uses one body for both the razor and trimmer, which means it takes up less space and is easier to carry with you.Phillips markets this as a razor for sensitive skin and from someone who has suffered from the red bumps and rash under my chin from other razors, I can say that this razor meets the claim. The trimmer is large, trims quickly and cleanly, and the trimmer length feature is easy to use and works well. It can also be easily removed for pre-shaving hair that's grown too long for the razor.ProsLightweight and comfortable to useCleaning system works well and is relatively quiet compared to othersBattery life is pretty decentOne body with removable shaver and trimmerShaves cleanly and smoothly on sensitive skinDoesn't cause the red skin on my neck that other razors doFrustration-free packaging is nice-no cuts from shrinkwrapConsPhillips claims the shaver heads glide effortlessly on the skin. I can say that this isn't true unless your skin is wet. It jumps around some when using it normally (dry)The shaver and trimmer head do not fit in the included carry case together. The case could have been made slightly larger to accommodate them

I really liked this product, but I had to return because it had already been received by another person!

Disappointment
Returned the razor. Do not like the new blades, as they catch my skin. I had a 1260X that works well, however cannot get replacement blades that are what I had; they are now just like the blades on the new razor. Will look for a new brand
