I had a tape dispenser for over 10 years that really gave me the fits every time I tried to use it. Christmas wrapping was very intense. I happened to see this at Amazon and for $10, I did not feel I was taking a chance since it got real good ratings. WOW - what a great tool this is. I was a little hesitant to purchase concerned about the build quality but not to fear. This is a sturdily built dispenser that fits well in my hand and the paddle works great to assist with tape tearoff. Soooooo much easier than taping boxes with just a knife!

This gun in the tape and matching tape didn't seem to function well for moving as the tape was sturdy and did function in the dispenser the way it was supposed to with only some mistakes. Removed a star from the rating as the tape often slips around and bunches up as it's being dispensed as there is no system for keeping it in place and it slides around a lot as the role turns. Most noticeable however is the extreme odor that comes from the glue on the tape. This scent is very strong and smells of some highly unpleasant chemicals that will require you to use this in a well ventilated area otherwise you might get headaches from the intense fumes. While the glue does work very well and has strong sticking power, the scent is at times overpowering, and does not go away after a while but will return if you pull the tape up from whatever you're using it to hold together. The functioning was good though and so it got to keep the rest of it stars.

In less than a month of use, the connection came loose and couldn’t be fixed, so I had to return it.

I ordered this dispenser for packing over 75 boxes. It worked fine at the beginning, but after about 20 or so boxes, I had to make frequent adjustments to the tension. I either had to tighten or loosen it. If I loosened it, because it was breaking the tape or getting too difficult to roll, it would get too loose, and the tape would wad up or stick to the dispenser parts. If I tightened it, it would get too tight, and it wouldn't roll, or the tape would split or break. Soon after those problems developed, it was hit or miss with the cutting teeth. They started to bend every which a way. I tried to straighten them with pliers, but that was short lived. I finally got fed up and taped the boxes without the dispenser. It was wasting my time!

Very simple to use. It has a lever at thr bottom to simplify getting the tape on. I would just be mindful of the cutting edge. Pretty sharp and sticks out higher than other brands. But it is a good tool.
