Petz: Dogz and Catz - PC

I'm very happy with this one. The disc had maybe a few scratches, but nothing that prevented me from installing it. That's what was most important. The disc came with the original case, box art, and even the booklet. I was ecstatic when I found out that I can run this version of the game without the disc in the optical drive. For anyone who misses this game, it really is the original Petz 5, and it certainly does work on Windows 10.

Basically, you raise and care for virtual pet dogs or cats. Both of my daughters, ages 3.5 and 9, love this game. The 9 year old understands it better and is able to play it the way it is intended to be played, but the 3.5 year old still likes to get on the computer and play with the cute little dogs. It is a simplistic game, but the animals are cute. Nothing challenging here- you feed, exercise, and groom your virtual dogs/cats on a daily basis. If you don't regularly care for them, they run away. They can fall in love and have puppies/kittens. Again, nothing challenging, but both of my daughters enjoy this game a lot.

I remembered playing Petz3 years ago...I'd been pining for a puppy and, rather than battle my mother once more, opted to take the path of least resistance, and got Petz5.....It's fun for the first day or so, but eventually they start to really grate on your nerves.The pets get jealous when you scritch another pet and will attack one another, they steal each other's food (even when you have multiple bowls out), and will sometimes hiss or bark and growl at the cursor (granted, I had just given them a bath, but come on!).Parents: if your kid wants a pet, get them this software.It will either change theirs minds, or enchant them!I loved it when I was a little girl, and it's amusing for a while.The long-term value is minimal, but I still somehow find myself wanting to play it a few times a year.There's an itch it scratches, for sure and certain.So.. Go for it.Just... don't expect to be blown away.on the upside for parents: no foul or explicit language, (aside from tussles over squeaky toys) no fighting, no shooting, no monsters, no blood, yes cuteness, yes puppies and yes kittens (with no shedding or allergies), and the kids get to learn a little bit about what comes with having a pet.

I remember this game from when I was just a pre-teen, but I found this package on Amazon and absolutely had to have it! Be warned if you want to get this game -- it does work on Windows 7, from what I can tell so far, but it is quite glitchy if the resolution on your screen is not low enough (mine was set too high, so none of my pets had faces, which had me quite horrified).I have heard that when a pet gets pregnant, the game stops working. I haven't had this one on Windows 7 long enough to know whether that's true. I do know that never happened when I had XP, but it may be different on a later system.On to the actual gameplay instead of technical issues, this can get quite boring if you play it all the time. However, I'm ready to go ahead and end this review just so I can play. See ya!

I loved this game as a kid, and with a recent stroke of nostalgia and no luck finding my old CDs or with downloads, I just bought the game again. Everything was perfect once I ran it in compatibility mode; I didn't even have to change my resolution, and I have a widescreen laptop with Windows 7.Unfortunately... I got the French version?The manual [ which is in-game only ], the tips, the breed listing, the items... everything's in French! It's not too bad, with the help of Google Translate but... what the heck? Haha. That's the only reason I didn't give it a 5/5.

This is software that does not work. The child was so looking forward to it, but useless waste of $$ to buy this.

I've bought versions of this game many times - it's a great simple game that is addicting.Lots of catz and dogz to choose from, and it's cool that they can interact and play together.One tip: if you are playing this game on a newer PC or laptop, you may have to change your screen's resolution to a lower one, or else the graphics don't look right and the dogz and catz won't have faces. It's easy to do though, and then you can just change the resolution settings back after you are done playing :)

Simply childhood memories 😍😍😍 One thing is that I have Windows 8. I don't know if it was a problem with my Divix but my pets have no faces :( I'll try to fix that but this game is total love ❤️❤️❤️
