Barbarossa Brothers Cut Throat Razor - Matt Black Stainless Steel

I have been shaving the proper way for about a year now, I have a DE and a SE and this is my first shavette. Apprehensive at first of course, this type of shaving requires much more skill, time and carefulness to get a great shave with no injuries. Knowing this, I made sure pre shave was on point and set off nice and steady.The Jolly Roger is everything you would want in a razor of this kind. It’s a nice weight, it fits well in the hand (and I have big hands), and changing the blade is a breeze.Taking everything I know about wet shaving into consideration, I proceeded with my first pass. Cards on the table, I have never had such a close first pass. I almost left it there it was that good. I used a mild blade (persona) to avoid any slips with the feathers (I know what they are capable of!). I only wish I had stopped there as before my second pass I had no cuts or scrapes. My second pass, ATG left me with some scrapes under my right sided jaw, quite fiddly for me being right handed and trying to get my hand in a suitable position but that will come with time.All in all, a quality, well made, ergonomic razor that put my mind at ease when attempting my first shavette shave.

This is a solid shavette. Bought it to replicate my barber for wet shaving & shape ups. Grips the blade perfectly. The tension on the pivot is adjustable - so you can have a loose or tight movement. The case is good quality. Will check out their other products & probably buy another design just for the aesthetic. Matt black finish is very nice.This is the first of these that I've bought & I'm very happy with it so far. The blade holder opens into three sections - the bottom part holds the blade, the middle part secures the blade & the top part locks the other two parts together. All of this is solid, no play in the movements or the blade whatsoever. There is a neat instruction sheet inside for loading the blade & shaving with it.In case you don't know, use a fingernail at the top of the blade holder to pry open the middle layer so you don't touch the blade edge. The only improvement to the design I could suggest is something to ensure the arm doesn't get stuck inside the handle when closed - it is a tight fit if you close it completely, you might need to yank it out hard if the pivot movement is set too heavy.

I have a short trimmed beard but fussy about having precise lines and until now was using an everyday modern safety razor to achieve my look but with the chunky shaving head found keeping the lines difficult and invariably after every shave I would find everything looking uneven. I decided to try a shavette my reasoning being that with a thin sharp head I would be able to control it better and get the precise lines I want. It arrived nicely packaged and loved the leather storage pouch which is the main reason I chose this one from the many available. The black colour is very smart and the razor felt light but robust. I watched a dozen or so YouTube tutorials about how to use a shavette so I wouldn't end up killing myself but when I did actually use it it was so easy and produced a great result and my shave lines were perfect!!! Only my first shave with this little marvel so far and I know I will get better and achieve even more precise lines. I accidentally ordered 2 of these razors and initially was going to return the 2nd but have decided to keep both. Thoroughly recommend getting this one as it does a great job and comes with storage pouch. I wish I had found this razor earlier in my life.

I bought this as my first foray into shavettes and I’m quite disappointing. I purposely did not buy the cheapest shavette, hoping this would be of better quality but boy was I wrong.When I received the shavette I was very disappointing to find that the case of the shavette (not sure of the technical name) was being closed so the body of the razor would not close into it. The item was a thick metal material so I’m not sure how it got disfigured.I was going to send the item back but after taking it apart and putting it against my work bench I was able to fix it. I’m summary, it was not worth the price tag of £25 (although the case was a nice addition).

Really love this, never had a shaver like it before and there's definitely a learning curve in its use but overall it's a great piece of kit.It doesn't feel awkward in my hands, at least not to me, though it would be even easier to use if you were ambidextrous, but it's hardly a requirement.Instructions provided are very basic but give you the general idea of what you need to do with using this blade. Just don't do what I did and not read the bit about snapping the blades... I learned the hard way XDYou will need shaver blades but, as mentioned earlier, you'll need to split the blades in half. Depending on the quality of blades they can last roughly 4 - 5 uses.Clean up is easy, I need to investigate further into the care aspect of these shavers, but it's really easy to just clean with a tissue and remove excess water.I recommend this item, in particular to precision work, I use this especially for keeping a neat and tidy goatee. Other shavers just don't quite hit the mark for me and I enjoy using this shaver more than any I've used previously.

I bought this after first transitioning from multi blade to double edged. With the plan to eventually buy, learn and regularly use a cut throat for me usual shave.First of all, the delivery was fast, the box was slightly crushed but no damage to the razor itself.The case that accompanies the razor is beautiful, genuine leather and fits the razor in very snug, makes a nice addition to my shaving section of the bathroom. The razor itself is a removable blade matt black straight razor that comes with instructions (i ignored at the trade up of a rather more informative youtube video).All in all i have only used twice but am extremely happy with my purchase and would only scream a recommendation for this product.
